air jet / throttle adjust question
« on: September 17, 2010, 03:49:33 PM »
i have a 73 cb 350 twin. i just cleaned the rust out of my tank and the bike was having trouble idling properly. originally, since it was pulling to little fuel, i had the throttle screws adjusted up to take in more gas. after adjusting these down, the bike wouldn't idle at all. i then messed with the air jet screws a bit and now i am completely up the creek. so, my question is, how many turns should the air jet screw be out after i screw it completely in? the online manual says 7/8 for the four cylinder models, but i'm not sure if a twin is the same.  also, is there a set amount of turns my throttle screws should go after they have just touched or does it just need to be adjusted until i reach 1500 rpm or so at idle?

thanks for any help!

I don't have a CB350 twin manual..........but a good place to start is turn the air-screws out one turn from a soft bottom.  Be aware that the biggest problem with those carbs is pin-holes in the diaphrams.

My Clymer manual states 1-and-a-quarter turns after lightly seating the air needle screws. Beware of the idle passage being blocked. I had this problem, even
after spraying through it with Gumout many times. You may want to tank those carbs over night. It worked for me. At least that problem was fixed. On to the next now!
