OHHHHHHHHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO you didn't just do this ;D :o
I prefer and us Castrol 10 w 40 year around. Thats what the manual specifies. I would not use synthetic in these old bikes. Can make your clutch slip.

This could be debated till the end of time. Just pick one kind that you like and stick with it. Maybe this will nip it before it goes to far. :D ;D :D

I use a different type of oil every time I change, always 10w 40, except in summer when I run 15 w 40, unless I cannot find it, then I run 20w 50,unless I have some 10w 40 around, I just use it, even if it is not a "different" type of oil. So, I guess my original statement was more of a general concept, not a personal commitment.

BTW:

I re-polish my oil filter housing every time I change the oil.

I add a little Sea-Foam to the oil about 100 miles before I change it, unless I forget, or the mood to wrench & polish hits me and I just change the oil.

Markcb750 - Do you polish the INSIDE of the oil filter housing or the OUTSIDE? Or both?

Myself, I prefer to use extra virgin olive oil..............

It makes the chips (fries) nice & crisp with a lovely golden yellow finish.  :D

I decided that Astroglide works best for me.  Olive oil seemed to get thick and sticky after a bit.

On short rides a bit of baby oil does it for me, but on longer rides a light hemorrhoid oil suits me best.

Depends. In summertemperatures 20W-40 is the better choice (It's what Honda France officially recommends, btw). 10W-40 is recommended if you ride in winter in temps around 0o Celsius.

Very interesting.
Somewhere I still have that original issue.       Mostly have always used auto oil in my bikes.  Using Rotella 15/40 now.  Wish they made a 20/50.

I told some guy I was using Lucas in my cb550, and he thought I meant "Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer" instead of motorcycle oil, So He bought like 4 quarts and used 3 and a little of the forth container on his bike, lol, it runs but I still think he was dropped to many times as child.

Is it not crucial to use specific motorcycle oil for the clutch?
