Thanks!  I missed the first one.  I set my DVR to record one on the 24th already.   ;D  The info doesn't say which episode it is, but I suppose I'll find out when it plays!

Lot's of good info in that video.  Unfortunately, some misleading and incorrect info, too.  Which is a shame.

The jet size change was necessary not because of the stacks letting more air, but rather the change in runner length raised the pressure in the carb throat closer to atmospheric.
There was no volumetric change to the engine mechanicals.
Therefore, it does NOT get more air with the stacks (particularly at less than red line RPMs).  They just restored the fuel flow with bigger jets for the lower air pressure differential they induced with the filter to stack change.

- They totally ignored the slide needle position on the slides and the midrange throttle valve mixture settings.

- High marks for video production values, below average marks for technical merit.

The "gratifying" ride showed disregard for actual air fuel ratios at various throttle positions.  And the need to be the primary focus of a circle jerk.

It ain't science.  It's just entertainment, with a little "education" thrown in.

Very cool engraving on the bike, though.

Cheers,

TT I'm glad you chimed in here I have always enjoyed what you & Mark have to input. My intention was for a new person to see a video instead of written data. I wish you or HondaMan would do something like this I think it would sell good. Some people absorb info in different ways.I would defiantly buy one on PD carbs.

They did some pretty cool stuff with that CB550.  The floats look different from what's in my '76 550F.  I wonder if they are from a later model or just an aftermarket replacement?

The carbs in the video are the PD style carbs, found on the 77-78 CB550K models.

I'd like to say the principles are the same, but they got some of the principles wrong in the video, unfortunately.
