Question about removing clutch safety switch
« on: March 03, 2006, 11:46:17 PM »
Do I need to make a jumper to replace the wires for the clutch switch when removing it?......take for instance plugging the jumper into the green/red - green connections for the clutch switch circuit? Or should I leave it in the system?  Id rather not have it to clean up the look of my bars......especially since I ran the control wires outside the bars.

To bypass your clutch switch, yes, do as you have posted - I had to do mine as the PO had removed the wiring to the switch... and connecting those wires together in the headlight is the easiest thing to do.... as for whether you should do it... hey, it's personal preference! I still pull the clutch in regardless when starting the bike... :)

Here's a wiring diagram of my bike FYI.

It is a matter of safety and pride.  As said above you can simply jump around it in the headlight. Since I have taken to parking the thing in gear as I have had it tip over twice on the mildest incline. If you forget to pull in the clutch and hit the starter you will embarrass yourself in front of hot chicks who always seem to be around when we do something dumb.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll probally hook it back up. Wouldnt want to do a FUBAR.....and know me , I probally would.  ;D

I dont have to worry about the starter working with the clutch not pulled anyway........I cant figure out the electrical gremlins left over from the previous owner. I have to kick start it or jump the terminals on the solenoid...then the starter will work.  ::)

Mine is missing the wiring as well.

I was wondering does anyone know what gauge of wire it might be?

That way I can hit radioshack or something and rewire it:)

I tend to do stupid things on a regular basis so I think I should hook it up:)
