« on: September 19, 2010, 12:17:03 PM »
It's getting there!

So far front end rebuild:
Cleaned forks installed New fork seals (Pumped out more water than oil no boots to shed water)
New head set bearings
rebuild front brakes completely, master, caliper, hoses, pads, fluid.
new boots, grips, bars (PO had dumped the bike on both sides)
paint evrything that has paint.
New chrome, headlight ring, gauge ring, signal lenses.
corrected wring harness in HL bucket. (PO had major F up nothing besides headlight and starter worked)
Cleaned carbs, replaced o-rings, cleaned intakes, fixed ari leaks. (PO stripped a vacuum port, intake o-rings were brittle and pieces missing)
replaced and cleaned airbox and plenum, hooked up correctly. (PO had big air leaks incorrect filter set up)
installed new battery box and strap (PO cut to fit bigger battery)

When it stops raining I think I'm ready to go out and fire her up.

Next up, Paint for tank and side covers. Thinking of doing a OEM scheme but in white and black. Probably have it dome expertly.
Need OEM seat and I will be ready to show her off!

Ha ha You don't know the half of it! I thought about starting a thread of nightmare PO stories but I'm sure it's been told before! Yes this guy or guys shouldn't have touched this bike.

BTW.....

SHE LIVES! I fired her up last night! Had a hard time getting her started, she finally choked to life in a cloud of smoke. She sounded grumpy and sleepy. Kind of like an old whore. She didn't want to wake up. She was running on 2 cyls. 1 & 2 were cold. First checked spark, check. Realizing the one petcock tube feeds the 1 & 2 cylinders, I checked it. No gas! I had just cleaned it to. Realizing I only put 1/2 gallon in the tank and the bike is leaning forward I tilted the tank and voila, gas! Put the line back on, tried to start her again and she woke up and roared to life like she had three cups of coffee. She starts immediately, she revs, she sounds angry, and she smokes like a beyotch, but I'm happy. I feel like I just graduated some kind of shop class with an A+. Thanks to the professors here like TwoTired and hondaman and all the others that share their experiences. Now for a test ride around the block.
