Hi, ieism.
I know it's a bit late but I think DME of the lovely 'cafe' fame is in northern Sweden and I spent a bit of time in southern Sweden (near Malmo) a couple of years ago. If there is anything I can help with let me know.
It's a great place to go for a holiday, fantastic scenery and nice people. Police are hot on speeding and drinking. It's not really any more expensive than the rest of N. Europe as long as you don't buy beer in bars too much (supermarkets sell beer cheap) and the state alchohol shops for spirits aren't unreasonably priced. Fuel is cheaper than UK by up to 30% last time I looked. You can get by quite cheaply if you want to. A lot will depend on exchange rate as Sweden hasn't taken up the Euro yet but is in EU. (Like UK). DME will know much more than me, being a resident I think.
Good luck and sorry for late reply.
Chris
