Flasher unit constant buzzing means?
« on: October 01, 2010, 04:43:02 PM »
Finished getting the motor back and hooked up in my 78 cb750 and when I turned the ignition on to test the starter the flasher unit started continuously buzzing.  I don't have to use the indicator it just keeps buzzing.  Does that mean the flasher is bad, low voltage, or I screwed wiring somewhere getting the engine back in?

I'm going to pull apart the switch unit tomorrow.  I just put on drag bars and had to rewire it but it worked fine after.  2 days later and it starts buzzing.  Maybe something is shorting out in the switch.

I just disconnected the buzzer, it was annoying.

the turn signal relay is what triggers the buzzer. the bizzer isnt the issue it would be the relay that controls it.

Was bugging me so I just went out and worked on it.  2 wires in the turn signal switch were crushed and shorting out against the handlebar.  Must have fried the flasher though, it just flashes once.  Swapped in the electronic one from my nx650 and it works fine.

Flasher or buzzer?
The flasher makes the lights flash. If the stock one is buzzing then you probably have a crushed/shorted wire somewhere. It buzzes when it is carrying a high load current, and it won't last long like that. If it buzzes all the time then check wiring to the signal switch or the switch itself. If it buzzes only on one side then check first for a lamp that has been damaged or burned out in a way that shorts it out.
The buzzer is connected from one side signal lamp wire to the other. It buzzes when one lamp is on. If it buzzes all the time and no lamp is on then it's connected wrong.
