Fork ears
« on: May 14, 2010, 10:08:20 AM »
Good day,

Looking for a little info. I'm in the process of building a cafe racer out of my 78 cb750. I've always liked the look of gators on bikes. I know that Honda stopped using them from 77 on. I was wondering if a pre 77, (76 and older), fork ears would fit on my 78,.....if the overall dimensions were the same? I know someone who used a set of gators from Triumph on his 78, but I'd rather go this way.

Thanks
Steve

Youd have to measure your bottom tripple tree to see if they would fit around.

just curious.  what are gators?  I assume they are something similar to the ears?

sorry to ask a question after a question.
in case I forgot, it's a 78' CB750F

Gator is short for alligator. ;)  A gaiter is the accordion-style rubber tube that covers the fork tubes between the lower triple tree and the top of the fork lower on many motorcycles.

I'll give that a whirl co423...... Mind you, I guess I'd help if I had the dimensions of a pre-77?

Good day,

andy750, I'd say giddy-up with your fork ears, but if I'm correct, I believe they are different from the 76 model year.... I figure the closer to my model year the more likely they'll fit..... I'm not sure though. Would it be possible to have the dimensions anyways?

ksmith0034 is that a custom swing arm? Also, your handle bars, did you just flip the stock bars?

Thanks
Steve

Steve,

The K2 ears are the same dimensions as the 76K ears - only difference is where the indicators attach  -the K2 ears attach the indicators through the headlight bolt. Much better design than the 76K ;)

Good day,

Thanks ryan6838. Nice site. How well did they fit on the upper part of the gaitor, did you have to modify them and do they seal well?

Thanks
Steve

Sorry Steve, been away for a while.
I had the stock swing arm chromed.  The bars are clubmans.
