Rebuilding Gl1000 MC
« on: September 21, 2010, 11:07:43 AM »
Hey there, I'm rebuilding a 76 GL1000 master cylinder and I'm hoping some know the answer to this.

Once the plunger is in and I'm ready to put the c clip in there's a nylon washer and a wire clip that came with the kit.

I'm thinking the nylon washer goes to the outside (lever side) of the plunger and the wire clip holds the rubber cap on.

So, plunger in the MC, metal washer, c clip, rubber cap, nylon washer, wire clip?

Hope that makes sense and thanks!

According to my Clymer manual you are correct. I hope this helps. Now I need to go fix the brakes on my 80 gl1100.

rebuilds same way as all the 400-750 ones
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Remember "Its always in the last place you look" COURSE IT IS YOU STOP LOOKIN THEN!

Don't remember the nylon washer with the 750 MC I had but I'll know it if I ever have to get that c-clip out of another MC in the next 30 years  ;D
