So I can't find intake boots for this bike. What if I take out the airbox and intake boots and substitute with K&N pods? I know I will have to get rejetted. Will I have to change exhaust? What else is needed? Does this plan make sense? What can I expect???

It is a nice upgarde, sounds better, pulls stronger with a slightly higher idle and mild jetting required.  No exhaust changes needed although you always can:

The bike isn't running. The box is disconnected and the carbs are disconnected from cylinders. I am thinking I need fuel + spark + air. I will charge/replace battery, put gas in it, buy the K&Ns and install and try to fire it. Go from there???
