Getting Started again
« on: March 04, 2006, 07:12:20 AM »
I have to make it known that this siteis the missing link between the 1973 500 that is sitting in my garage with numerous problems after not having been on the road for 10 years and the possibility that it will ever  be resored and ridden again.  I found this site a couple years ago, but did not have the time to do anything more than browse the tech forum.  Now the urge is much stronger and once the weather gets a little warmer it might be time to tackle the project.  Reading all of the posts and looking at the links, has given me hope that getting the bike roadworthy again might not be more trouble and expense than it is worth.  I have owned the bike since 1975 (it was my first0 and it is still my favorite,  I will be spending time daily looking for the bits of info that will help me in my endeavor, just keep the info coming.  I am sure I will have lots of questions also.  Thanks.

Once you get started at her, you will notice the snowball rolling downhill effect. It gets to be more than an obsession or compulsion. I'm juggling 3 bikes right now so I don't have to wait while one is awaiting parts or paint.

You will get enormous satisfaction when you get it all cleaned up and running. Why not post some pics of it currently? They would also serve as the "before" pictures in a "before and after" set. I wish I had bothered to take some before pics, but at the time I thought it was a questionable effort myself, if not hopeless. Turns out it was neither.  ;)

No, but I guess that's what keeps them running and us gnashing our teeth.  ;D

This is when you sell the bike or encapsulate it in a block of Lucite.
