Honda Carb Problem
« on: September 21, 2010, 07:16:22 AM »
I am having problems with my '84 Honda Magnum 700.  Gas was leaking out of the overflow under the seat.  I found one needle seat on the outer most carb where the needle was not shutting off because of corrosion.  Now it does not leak, but it starts for about 3 seconds then stops.  Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jim

Was the bike sitting for a long time?  If so, you need the tank flush, petcock and carb clean routine. Best of luck

Time to rebuild the carbs compleetly and then you'll know for sure they are right.  I like to dip them one at a time in a coffee can full of Barymans.  The Barymans will clean everything up nicely and you can put it back in the can for later less the cruddy stuff at the bottom of the coffee can.  Last time I dipped a set of japanese carbs in straight carb dip it looked like the pot metal was being eaten.  Every time I try to get by and think a set of carbs look clean enough I have problems.  End up diping them and wishing I had done that first.
