CB750A head removal...
« on: September 22, 2010, 02:57:37 PM »
While checking the compression on the '76 CB750A I buggered the threads on #2 and can't get the plug back in. Am I right in thinking I can pull the head on a 750A without pulling the engine?

Thanks

Yes you can, but wait! repair those threads with a helicoil insert.  The only trick is coating the tap with grease to catch the metal shavings when tapping for the insert. Been right where you are a couple of years ago.

I'm hopig I don't have to go that far. It just started to bind on the first couple for threasd and I didn't force it any more. So I'm hoping I can just thread the plug in or a tap from the back side.
