BIKE STOLEN - Seattle people please keep an eye out
« on: September 23, 2010, 10:18:37 AM »
Hey there,

Came out this morning to find my bike gone. Cops say it wasn't towed so waiting for them to show up.

The particulars:
Stolen from the 300 block of Summit Ave E
1975 CB750k
Black
Dual discs
Clubman bars
Kerker 4-1
Dent in the tank left hand side where a careless driver knocked it over earlier this year
Bent left handlebar
Missing Honda wing badge on the left hand side - the triangular orange one
Missing rear left turn signal
Black duct tape on the seat
License number 0A5348
VIN CB7502503726
Engine Serial  CB750E-2380775

Looks like this in better days

Mirrored dual disks with a swept pattern

Debadged header wrapped Kerker with a worn spot on the 3 pipe where I didn't zip the speedo cable back out of the way and a scrape on the can.

The only other identifiable bits I can think of are:
The tank has a dent in the left hand side where the bars slammed into it when it got knocked over by a crap motorist. Also it's been Kreemed.

The carbs still had permanent marker on the bodies - 1,2,3,4 - airbox side - and the number 3 carb has a JBWeld repair where the PO punched a hole in it with a screw driver or something. Some gouges to boot.

Thanks

That really sucks! I'll keep my eyes on CL and Ebay like I always do. That exhaust should be easy to spot.

Another Bellinghamster, eh? Nice :-)

Seems unlikely that it would end up all the way up here, but I'll keep my eyes peeled as well. I compulsively have to check out any SOHC4 I see anywhere as it is.

Many thanks guys. Took a quick walk around the neighborhood hoping maybe someone drifted it down the hill and dumped it at the bottom but no such luck.

Still waiting on the cops. I suspect it's probably already being disassembled for eBayage.

Sigh. #$%*ers.

MAN OH MAN!!  :o

I feel your pain. Mine was jacked last month out of my shed.

Can we put a remote detonated explosive on our own bike?   ::) that way when someone takes it, you can just dial a couple buttons on your phone and bye-bye a$$whole! Even if they're not on it they have no bike, too! ;D

Sigh. #$%*ers.

Still waiting after 2 hours? That's the SPD for ya. You will probably get the "We don't have much hope you will get your bike back in one piece", CYA (Cover Your/their Ass) speech from them as well.

Police showed up around 2:30 and took the report. They seemed confident someone took it for a joy ride. Given you'd need to bring a helmet I'm not so sure it's a spur of the moment kind of thing.

If I do get it back and it was just a punk jamming a screwdriver in the ignition I think a hidden kill switch is on the list.

Thanks again guys.

Based on the theft of my Harley 2 years ago, my impression of cops is that they don't give a rat's ass about your bike once they take your particulars. Joyriders, my ass . . . probably tweakers looking for crack money.
Post an add on Craigslist and other Honda boards (join a few if you have to) and keep posting it. Send flyers to all the Honda shops, bars where cafe guys hang out, and even swap meet organizers.
I'm really sorry about your loss, it's a beautiful bike and I hope you can get some help from online communities but I think you need to very proactive and get the word out to as many people as possobile as soon as you can.
Since I'm just north of you, I'll keep my eyes peeled in the Vancouver / Vancouver Island area.
This project started in confusion and will end in disarray.

'Hate a theif!

Likely the only way you'll get any police help is to post at least a $500 reward. That stinks but generally that is what it takes. Then, they'll keep a lookout for it.

Around here, even on cars/trucks the one's with rewards are the only ones recovered by the cops.

You obviously had a nice bike. I hope your had it insured. Even if you did, a settlement wont offset all your hard work and TLC!

Asking the folks at capitolhillseattle.com to post the flyer. If it's still in the neighborhood more folks will see it there than on all the light posts in a 10 block radius.

Thanks for the suggestions and to oldhondarider for the flyer
