Sounds like you made the best of what could have been a "buzz kill".

Good going!

Well, you know, old machines have, uhh...character....  ;)

Nice to have that 6hp kicker, eh?

Please tell me that you are not stuck inside on this amazingly gorgeous day like I am. You should be out on the water! Or at least on two wheels.

Nope... spent all afternoon/evening at Hagg Lake fishing for trout. What a beautiful day! and no boat problems!

oh, and guess what? the kicker has a bad fuel pump diaphragm. really? i had to buy an outboard with fuel delivery issues too?  ::) the motor still works, you just have to feed it with the prime bulb every few minutes. a fuel pump is only $40, so no big deal.

Those small Evinrudes are pretty simple. Not much more than a lawnmower, really.
Just make sure the water impeller is working (it should be peeing warm water out the back, just under the powerhead.)

Catch anything?

It's a Johnson, but they're pretty much the same, right? I plan to pull apart the whole lower on it and re-seal it anyway, at which point I'll check out the impeller. I drained and filled the gear oil when I got it and it was milky, so I must have a bad seal or gasket somewhere.

We caught half a dozen rainbows, a couple of which might have been right on the low end of legal, but still a bit small to be worth keeping. I didn't see much activity from anbody out there... seems like it's been slow for having had 6000 fish planted last week.
