Headlight shell grommet
« on: September 25, 2010, 11:00:49 AM »
Was wondering, my '76 550's head light shell has no rubber grommet where the wiring comes in.
Is there supposed to be one?  Seems like there should.
If it's missing, where can one find one?
Thanks!
Freddie

Yeah that's a good idea.  Wonder if it's just us two, or there never was one.
Thanks for your suggestion.

You can buy rubber grommets at most auto parts store they also have kits with several sizes in a plastic tray.

My 750K8 does not have one and I don't see one in the parts manual all my wires are covered with a sheath at the hole in the bucket I think it would be difficult to put one in you could use a piece of tubing split longways cut to length and glue it.

None on mine either. I figure that the heat generated in the light bucket is partially vented through the opening.

A piece of rubber window insulation will work also.  Cut to fit and glue.

Neither of my buckets (original and new) have one on my CB750.  Since I need to paint my new bucket anyway, I think I will sand the corners over a bit instead of adding a grommet.
It took 10 years but she's finally done!
