Four Year Degree in Motorcycle Restoration
« on: September 28, 2010, 07:51:32 AM »
For the cost of the degree do you think it would be better to spend that money on old bikes and learn out of your garage or do think this degree is worth it?

Thought this would be a interesting debate...

By now I think I could probably CLEP out of enough classes to get the degree.  ::)
Do you have a copy of the Honda Shop Manual or Parts List for your bike? Get one here:

How expensive is McPherson College?
Maybe I'll do the Rodney Dangerfield thing and go back to school...

it's hard to say, I guess it depends on what you are looking to do. I think if your are looking to go to work for someone and are willing to relocate to an area that would have a big enough shop to pay a good wage with some benefits it may be worth it.

If you are looking to be self employeed I think I would check into some business classes at the local community collage, find a garage and start building - working on bikes, you would just have to remeber no kissing on the lips and for god sake it's just a bike, don't fall in love everything is for sale.

Seems like graduates from the college are getting decent jobs as far as auto restoration goes. They just added the course for motorcycles so can't really say how it will be in 4 yours.  I believe Mcpherson College is a private so I bet tuition is pricey.  About 20K for a year?

It is only 60 miles north from where I live. I might go check out the facility some point.

They have a facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/MCautorestoration
