Hello from KY
« on: September 23, 2010, 02:53:25 PM »
This is my first post. I just started on a 1976 CB750F I have had for a couple of years. I  bought it as a parts bike but it looks better than the bike I was working with. I haven't decided which way to go. I'm thinking I may keep the original seat and tank but I definitely want to go Cafe with it. I have an engine rebuilt and ready. It has been bored to 836, with polished/ported head, larger cam, Manley valves, HP valve springs, alloy keepers. I have a set of Lester wheels on the way. So now I'm trying to ecide what the bodywork will be. Any suggestions? Cheers.

Hi Steve, since no-ones chimed in to welcome you to the forum, I think I'll do the honours this time. Don't think we're toffee nosed or anything, just maybe your first post got overlooked.
Anyway, you're in the right place for anything concerning SOHCs, other bikes, other cars, other wives, other habits, life, the universe etc..........you name it, we got an expert on it.
Oh, post pics of your bike. Usually gets a response.

hi rhos1355,
Thanks for the reply. This is my first CB750 rebuild so I'm stoked to find this site. The next step is a carb rebuild. I just bought a set of Keyster kits. I have read that they work pretty well. I will post a few pics before the teardown. Cheers, Steve

Steve,

All I'll say is visually compare the Keyster parts to your "old" stock parts. I put my old ones back in for better results than with the new Keyster parts. Hope your's work better than mine did.

ps greetings from a Paducah UK grad that also lived in louisville for many years before heading west.

Hey Jerry, Great to hear from you. Yeah, I hope the carb kits work. How long have you been out west? I'm just starting to work on my 76F. So far I've noticed there aren't as many parts available for the F as the K models. As soon as I can, I'll get a few pictures on the teardown/rebuild on the project page. Cheers, Steve

Moved out 9/99. Loving it. Gives me a really nice base to discover the west. I've ridden most of the states west of the Mississippi and the 3 western Canadian provinces. Wide open riding at it's finest. Best riding in the US.

If you need help finding F parts send me a pm or email. I'm the pro at locating these. Collected them for my restore for 3+ years. Seems I'm always finding that one other that is not available. Just got my elusive rear brake light spring last night.

Sounds great. I would love to get out west and ride. My sister used to live in NM. Love it out there. I will definitely drop you an email on the parts issue. I REALLY appreciate it. I'm not really sure which way I'm going with the bike yet. I'm thinking a mild cafe but leaving the frame unaltered so I can go back to a high performance version of stock in the future. These bikes have great lines. Thanks again. Steve
