Fuse box melting...Why....Help?
« on: September 26, 2010, 04:22:53 PM »
So im riding along on my 550 and i stop for gas. I killed it and shut the key off and the lights stayed on. The kickstart still starts it without the key but the electric starter button wont do anything. I pulled the fuse box cover off. It has been melting and idk why. I wiggle the fuse box and the lights shut off. And when I put the key in it works now. The fuse box is super hot. and the back solder on the main power wire is almost gone.

i think after a while the contacts get dirty and it creates resistance. creating heat. both my 76 550`s had this happen. its only like 7 bucks and the cost of fuses to upgrade to the mini blade type fuse holder.  maybe a hour time if you get all fancy with wiring    it.  fuses are easier to find too now.
guess who?
