Very nice restoration. I am partial to red but also like the parakeet yellow. The painter I use found a Hyundai red that is really close to the ruby red. Well done...Larry

Thanks lads, very happy now with how it turned out. Man these bikes are addictive, not even finished this project and I picked up two more. Picked up two 550's and a few boxes of parts last saturday for my next project, might do a cafe on one and the other will probably just be used for parts.

Gerry, yes that's the DSS pattern one. I worked it out and I would only be saving like €15 buying a seat cover, strap and the chrome studs and then I would have the hassle of trying to fit the new seat cover which I imagine would be a pain so that's why I went with the pattern one. Ya it looks really well and the quality is good too.

Ya just didn't realise there was gonna be as much stuff before I went out to collect it, ah it's my dads car anyway it'll be alright

Made a little video on the 400 yesterday, it's going really well. These are really a fun little bike to drive, really enjoying it.

So it's been a while since I posted in here but have a few updates since last time. My bike is finally almost at the 100% complete phase (if that's really possible

).

Since I've been on here I've over bored my engine to 466cc using the big bore kits which can be had on ebay. I was actually quite impressed by the quality of these. I relapped the valves while I was at it and got new valve stem seals. I didn't do anything with the camchain as I didn't want to go near tearing the bottom end down. Did all the work myself except for the actual machining of the liners and it's worked out perfect which was a relief for me as it was my first bit of engine work. This has made a huge difference in the power of the bike as I'm thinking my compression was definitely down a bit before. Also it starts way better now as well, barely tip the starter and it fires right up.

I also purchased the reproduction chain gaurd from DSS and some lovely new Hagons which have made a huge difference in the handling of the bike.

Did a small bit of paint damage alright on the front sprocket cover which I must fix

I did most of this work over last winter and I've really been enjoying the bike over the summer, such a fun little bike to ride

all the work has finally paid off!!
