If Michaelangelo restored bikes this is what they'd look like.
« on: September 27, 2010, 10:00:54 am »
i know there are lot of talented guys out there on the forum who do some amazing work on your bikes, but I just had to share this guys work with you. His work blows me away every time I see one of his bikes listed.  Lucky me, he's also a local guy here, so I'll be using his services in the near future to get my girl in shape, though not to the degree of this bike. enjoy!

...but he used a wrong, late cylinder head for his resto job and the tanks stripes at the rear are out of place.
all in all, nice job, but ihmo this should be correct for the price he is asking for.

No tool kit.  Deal breaker! ;)

(And it's missing the plastic water shield thingy from the brake disc.)

All that for 10 grand is cheap.

Walk into a dealer with 10K and see what you can get.  Nothing that beautiful.

but of course that is just my humble opinion

amen to that, I'd pay the asking price for this gem before I'd fork over even more for a new, boring bike. I kinf of doubt that he used the wrong cylinder head, but I know nothing about bikes, I do know he is a hard core perfectionist and even if he did, who cares. That is one  freaking hot bike!

There are people on ebay that'd charge twice what he's asking for that bike. With all the new parts it has and the overall cleanliness of the build,
I'd thank the guy for keeping the price of the hobby in line.
IMHO. :)

Steve is a builder, not a restorer, and he does this for a living. He makes quality bikes to be ridden and has done so for almost thirty years. Did anyone notice the Barnett clutch and K&N air cleaner? Wow, not stock?  :o  I'll bet he even used some non-OEM bolts!   ;D

The head is as it came on a low mileage bike, and considering the $$$ in NOS parts he put into this bike, the price is reasonably fair and gives him minimal payment for his considerable labor.

I have to support anyone who works so hard to make a living preserving these fading treasures.  RR

Early 750's don't have the rotor shield . I hope I can get my K4 close to looking like that .

Agreed! I hate to see the later head on an early bike. Totally ruins it. A lot of time and effort spent on the bike and missed, for me, a real key point. Some may consider this small and petty, but that's my take.
