Vin question for 550
« on: September 27, 2010, 09:09:02 PM »
I looked for an answer but came up with nothing on this one.

I have a registered '75 CB550k. I got curious looking up OEM decals and remembered that the actual manufacturer date was 10/74 even though its registered as a '75. I get the sell date and import time delay the registration so the year wasn't the issue. What I was wondering was, after looking at the Vin and the model break down on this forum, I couldn't find my Vin on the list. If it were a '74 then it should read CB550-1000001 or if a '75 CB550-1200005, but mine reads CB550-1210098. I ran through all the model lists and nothing ended in 8.

Any help?

What you have is in fact a '75 CB550K1.  The frame number listed on the model guide is the first number of that model.  Anything between that number and the first number of the next model year falls under that model.

Its a 75 year model bike built in 74 to account for shipping time
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Remember "Its always in the last place you look" COURSE IT IS YOU STOP LOOKIN THEN!
