Great, thanks, guys. I hope you're right. I've been sweating trying to figure how to hold it in the petcock. My fuel hoses have always been a tight fit...hard to get on, even harder to get off.
Mike
To keep from pulling my brass fittings off when removing the fuel hose, I put a little clean grease on the brass tube. Put it high enough so you do not get any in the fuel line. I never have trouble getting them off now.

Johnie,
if the grease isn't actually between the brass tube and the inside of the fuel hose, what good is it doing? I apologize if I misread your post, but that's what it sounded like. I wouldn't think a tiny little bit of grease inside the hose would hurt anything. Do you clamp your hoses to the tubes?  Regular screw-type hose clamps or something else?

I think he was saying the grease is between the tube and the fuel line, but not so far down that it is in the flow of fuel.

Exactly as j squared says. Between the tube and the line. To be honest, I have not used any clamps on my hoses either. I really should, but have not and never had a leak. If I use a clamp I would try the OEM ones.
