New bike - 95 Suzuki DR350SE
« on: September 29, 2010, 08:52:13 PM »
Picked up a 1995 DR350 today. I wanted to get one years ago but never did. Found one about 2hrs away that was priced to sell. It's the street version but all the street stuff has been taken off. I plan to put back just the minimum street stuff so I can register it. It'll probably be 95% Dirt, 5% street.

It does have some problems but is good overall and a killer deal for the price. The carb's got issues though. Real slow to return to idle, popping, glowing header... The PO rebuilt it and either didn't get it back together right or there's a vacuum leak somewhere. I'm going to re-rebuild it but will probably just replace it with a pumper carb.

Who else has enduros?

In my whole riding career, back to the early 70s, I've never been without a dual-sport in the stable of one kind or another.

Looks like a winner.

Yep, slow return to idle and glowing header point toward extreme lean, in my thinking.

Still, not impossible to find and fix.

Good luck with it.

Nice find!  My first bike at 14 was a DR125 that my dad had bought years earlier and given me rides on.  What an amazing bike that was.  No matter how long it sat, the damn thing would always start and run.  I still have it but need to get a back wheel for it.  Two summers ago was the last time I rode it but man is it a fun little bike!  It just goes and goes through anything!
My experience with that old DR has really given me a bias toward Suzuki dual-sports, though I like them all.  I really would love a slightly newer one that is a dual sport (my old 125 is off road only).  I love dual sports, even the newer ones, because they're still so bone-simple, reliable, and can be used for anything.  They're like the modern incarnation of our old hondas in that sense!
