OK, quick question for you gurus.

Got a 1970 Suzuki 90. 6v system.

We got about 10v at the coil, will light a test light, etc.

We got about 30v at the plug boot, but wont light a test light.

Don't currently have another 6v coil to check this with, but 30v and not enough something to push a test light... bad coil, yeah? Or am I missing something basic here?

Hmmm.....  30 volts at the plug??  Doesn't it take, like, THOUSANDS of volts to spark a plug?

EDIT:  Yep, a quick google search turns up that plug voltage can be anywhere from 40,000 to 100,000 volts.

I don't think 30 volts is gonna spark yer plug.   ;D

Yeah. But without something designed to deal with actual spark reading, its hard to get an accurate reading...

Like I said, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything obvious.

To check for spark, use a known good, as in new (especially in the case of 2-strokes) spark plug, with the body grounded to the head. If no spark, check that the points are making and breaking.
