Honda Super Hawk
« on: October 01, 2010, 09:30:43 AM »
Hello friends I recently came into some money and have been thinking of picking up a 2002 honda vt1000 super hawk. The guy wants 2000 for it and it was used as a track bike. It looks like it was down and the fairing is a bit messed up and the tank is dented. That being said does anyone have any experiance with these bikes?

The price dosent seem bad, but seeing as it was a track bike should I avoid it?

For around that price you should be able to find one without track time in an unlaid down condition.
They have a following like the VFR's, good bikes.

That's what I assumed as well, but so far the only thing I can find is one for 4200 and one for 3000.

Hey there, the super hawk is a great bike . I have a 2001 model, its been great to me for two years.
these bikes have lots of torque and horsepower, good handling, and awesome sound. I was always a four cylinder snob til this machine , I love this bike.        p.s. I still love four cylinders.

Thanks for the info! I fell in love with this bike the first time a sae it and I hear theyre super reliable can you comment about this?

Also my biggest concern is the fact that it was used as a track bike, I sent him an email asking how many hours he spent on the track with it. The last thing I want to do is is replace a gear box or something.

They are very simple and reliable. http://superhawkforum.com/forums/index.php , this is the best place to ask questions about hawks. I rode my super chicken today , love it.

There is no way I would pay $2000 or that bike. Not with that obvious damage and the track time. Keep looking.

By the way, with a V-Twin super bike, be prepared to buy many rear tires.  ;) Those torquey V-Twins have a tendency to wear out rears fairly quickly. Ask anyone who owns a Ducati.

I think I am going to offer him 1000 bucks because 2000 grand seems a bit much. Don't think he will take it but hell its worth a try right? right?
