The reason is I found one that has been written off. It rear ended another bike ::)

Needs new front end. Could get it for $1000.00 maybe.  Found a front end for $350.00.

Called the guy up today, looks like I will be going to look at it on Thurs.
I'm thinking of riding my bike the hour+ so he doesn't think I'm all over it by bringing my truck. I really don't want to spend the $1400.00 he wants so a slow down diversion could be good for me.
I want to hear more about the story of this bike.

Here is an email response.
This bike was in an accident where it appears the rider run into the back of another bike in front of him.  There was some rubber marks on the damage forks that leads me to believe that.  Bike was not dropped.  Forks were bent and fender wrecked, wheel is bent, handlebars back are good.
The status with insurance is currently as "salvage".  This can be re-insured as "rebuilder" once is has been put together, and inspected by motorbike shop.   I have done this with several cars, and it can be a bit of a pain, and some money.   So I went down to Courtenay Motorsports to ask what the procedure is for bikes.   They said it is very simple, you pay they an hour of time, they test the lights etc, see that it starts and drives, it is does it passes and you can take their inspection form down to insurance and have it converted to "rebuilt" and insure it.
.
The bike has been torn down, as I intended to fix it, but with little money, and no time to source all the parts used I am trying to sell it this way.
If someone has the used parts I need I will fix it.   Even just some of them.   Many of the parts are real cheap thru the dealer too I was surprized.
.
The bike does run great still, all the electrical parts are still hooked up and can be checked.
.
Let me know if you want to view the bike."
Yes he has bad grammar ::)

Once I see the bike and have a chance to go to my old school mechanic guy at the Honda dealership, ask him about the "rebuild" classification, I may go forward.  From what I have read, changing the oil on these is a pain in the ass. You have to remove the exhaust system, sounds like working around a CL350 with those dam side exhausts ;)

Seems the whole bike was still based on the 82 750-  Virago motor.  Having just worked my way around that bike recently

I'm feeling relatively confident, be it a flip or a keeper :)

I read a pile of reviews on these bikes yesterday and apart from the "i have a sore arse after 400 miles" they appear to be quite a good bike.......
Offer him a grand .... ;)

it might not be apparent but the head stem could have gotten a little bent, fairly heavy bike getting a front shove.

One of the 2 front frame tubes was bent ::)

Hard to see, but when I placed a straight edge against them I could see 1/16" off.  Oh well ;)
