Just for sharing info?

I got banned from S1000RRforums.com. A member asked about HID lights, I posted back "Here are some I'm thinking of buying, maybe they are what you are looking for.", with a link to a product page, that's it, nothing else. Next time I go to that forum, I get this on my screen;

You have been banned for the following reason:
Posting unwanted spam

Date the ban will be lifted: Never

WTF? Good thing I wasn't even close to paying for a higher level of membership(yeah, it's one of those kind of forums).

I'd be ranting, but it's just not that important to me, I have plenty of cooler forums to hang out on.

I never have been but I am not on many. Depending on how important that forum was, email and admin and ask them what is wrong with posting a link to a product that you are not selling and have no affiliation with.

I did email admin, no answer yet, they seem to be pulling a "Brimmer" with me.

And I really don't want to be a member of a forum like that either.

pidaster, brimmer was a member that was pretty new that sold something to another member here and stiffed them.
A few other members got all sherlock holmes on his ass and hilarity ensued!

Sure more fun than the silicon doc era though.

I've not been banned but I have abandoned a forum. It featured a member who was absolutely certain that if you don't know the right answer to a question then you have no moral right to call bull$#!t on his dumb answer. Also that if he can't see a use for a part that engineers put on his car and a few people on a forum can't come up with a reason it's there, then it must be useless. He then got made a moderator.

Did have a benefit however. Don't ever feel like arguing with people on the internet. Saves me a lot of frustration.

I was on about 4 years ago or something like that but was not a regular. Sold my cb then oddly enough, bought it back. This was back when the site was a .us instead of .net address.

My friend got the boot after asking a stripper to get change for his $5. She said she had no change so he replied "Sure you do, there's a big pile of $1 bills behind you." The girl obviously wanted his $5 and gave him a very hard time. His mistake was telling her the truth by saying, "Listen, you don't have to be such a Russian c*nt about it." It was a glorious exchange, hilarity ensued.

Unlike the thread topic, this was not a permanent ban.
