New guy from Houston
« on: October 02, 2010, 11:03:39 PM »
I recently picked up a 1973 CB350F.  The bike has a little over 18K miles on it.  It is complete but needs quite a bit of work.  The original owner parked it 8 years ago and it has sat ever since.  I'm not sure of something was wrong with it when it was parked but my intention is to see if i can get it started.

Compression readings look ok.  I need to get a battery and am waiting on the new points to come in.  If the bike starts and runs okay I wills tear it down and start fixing everything.  If I can't get the motor to run I'm not quite sure what I will do.  I am decent with a wrench but this will be the first motorcycle I will try to rebuild.  This site has been a big help already, alot of good info here.

Here are a few pics:

Welcome!

If it's been sitting that long you probably need to clean the carbs

Welcome, new guy!

Get the new battery and points in and see if you have spark.
If yes, clean out the tank and put in some fresh gas and see if it will fire.
Most likely, you will have to clean the carbs, even if it does start.

Good luck.
