extended vacuum ports?
« on: October 04, 2010, 08:52:52 AM »
Anyone ever extended the vacuum ports for easy access when synchronizing carbs? Attaching the brass adapter tubes to #2, and 3 is a PITA, and getting the plugs back in is worse. My Concours doesn't have threaded ports, just tubes that are fairly easy to get to, and are blocked off with rubber caps, Simple. I'm looking for some way to make 2, and 3 easier to get to.

I kept mine on for a while but one of the long inner tubes got in the way of my choke and eventually got sheared at the threads.  :(

To get the #2 and #3 synch adapter tubes in easier, use a short length (about 3 inches) of vinyl tube pressed over the end.  This makes it much easier to reach the vacuum ports with the threaded end and screw them in.

To make screwing the plugs back in easier, put a small dab of gasket sealer or just thick grease on the tip of the screwdriver and then stick the screw to it.  This holds the screw on the end of the screwdriver while you're aiming for the vacuum port.

motion pro sells the long threaded brass tubes.
is that what you are looking for  ???

i'd just leave those in and put the (included) rubber cap over the ends.
