750 banjo on a 550?
« on: March 06, 2006, 08:07:54 PM »
Hello.

I just have a quick question.
I have a 1978 550k.
I have someone selling me a 750 banjo bolt and 750 front disc.
Will they fit?
I'm not too sure.

Thanks.

The disk is bigger and won't fit on the front wheel with the caliper. The mounts may be different as well.

You'd need a 750 wheel and forks at least...

Thanks SteveD.

Looks like i better wait and find a 550 disc.
I'm guessing that a 550 disc from any year will fit my bike....

hahahaha...

I wish I had thought of that before getting the mess that is this current install.
I'm sure 750 parts are easier to come by.

After I get done with my new front-end, I will have a set of lower legs, and a 19'' wheel that I will need to get rid of. All you would need is a set of calipers and rotors 4 A 750. I kmow for a fact DRAGMAN has atleast 2 complete dual-disc setups in his basement right now. Plus you could use your fork tubes, and your front-end would be slammed !

Well, I learned something out of this. I had no idea that the 70' CB450 had the early CB750 brakes.
I just figured that they were pretty much the same. From time to time I usually check part numbers
between the models that I'm wondering about though. Later on, Bill :) ;)
