5th gear bogging '76 cb750k
« on: October 04, 2010, 01:39:12 PM »
I have a '76 cb750k. I took it in for a carb tune and now the bike is bogging when I roll on the throttle in 5th gear. It wont go faster than 65. I also noticed it requires a lot higher rpm to take off after stopping. Any suggestions?

How did it run before the carb work? Did a Honda dealership do the work? I know most dealerships in my area all they have are younger people in the shop and while they might know alot about the new hi tech bikes with fuel injec. etc. I bet alot don't even know what the inside of a SOHC carb looks like. No fault of there's, it's just the dealer has them trained to be able to work on what they sell and that is new bikes not a 35 year old CB750 that was built before they were born. I work at a car dealership and while we have some very good techs most if not all of them would be totally lost if a customer brought his 1971 383 Challenger in for carb. work. I've had my 750K6 for about a year and believe me Im no mechanic, but Im slowly but surely with the help of the other SOHC forum members learning to the work on my bike myself. It makes you feel good when you fix something that you thought you couldn't, and it's a whole lot cheaper ;)

It ran pretty well before I took it in. I've done all the work myself until this point and was basically just looking for someone to go over my work and get it exactly right for a ride this up coming weekend. I took it to a local honda shop but am now hesitant to bring it back in. I'm thinking it's probably just a simple adjustment but I'm not sure where to start.
