Smaller sized battery for a 750
« on: October 03, 2010, 01:59:12 AM »
Sizeing down the electronic department. Is there an alternative for a 750 battery? A quick search learned about battery packs, smaller in size, but those threads usually concerned a model with less CC. So I did not find something usefull. Has anyone experimented with smaller sized batteries for their build?

I have used smaller lead acid batteries on my Bobbers.  I tuck the battery in behind the engine on a tray so the smaller the better.  I experienced no problems although I only run headlight, taillight, and electric start. The batteries are about 1/3 smaller than stock.

I run a small 15 amp/hour sealed lead acid battery designed for
emergency exit lights.--I have a 30 watt auto dome light in my headlight
and no electric start--works fine.

Hey there, I remember you! We talked trough the mail, a while ago, about your inspiring builds. Tx for that wiring scematic, it proved to be incredibly useful. Like you, I do not run anything extra. So I am very interested in hearing what brand and model battery you use.

Warm regards, Chris

Chris, good to see you here!  I get the $24.99 MC batteries from Rural King.  I can't recall the number other than it is like 12A-N-AA and fits nicely behind the engine.

I used a lead-acid, 3 amp-hour Yuasa YT4L-BS battery. No electric start, but I do have a quartz-halogen headlight, and a high power electronic ignition. No problems...

Never used a 3Ah! But I did use a 7Ah for a while with the electric and it was just fine.
I think the main thing to avoid is sitting in traffic idling for a long time.
