72 cl 350 carb issues
« on: October 04, 2010, 12:27:31 PM »
Need some help, suggestions.  After completing a 78 cb750/4 and a 74 cb750/4 I decided to pick up a 72cl350 twin. Complete bike need work but was cheap!  Have all electrical going and cleaned out the carbs and installed new jets needles etc.  Diaphragm look good and seem to check ok, so the were not replaced.  Started the bike and set idle at 1200. nice idle.  When you go to accelerate it only accelerates on the R bank. Operate the carbs separately and the R will accel. the L will sputter and hesitate.  Rechecked the float level and set it, same.  New clamp on intake rubber and checked for leaks ok.   I believe it is starving for fuel cause when you hold you fingers over the inlet of the carb it will then start to take the fuel and it will acell. but your hand is soaked in fuel, then once it burns it it is back to hesitation issue.  Also you can not stall the bike with your hand over the carb. on the L bank. The right side will stall the bike if you put your hand over it.  Even though the diaphragms looks ok I am leaning towards that or intake boot leaks?  Need some other opinions!    Thanks geno ???

Had almost the exact same running issue with my 360T.  Turns out that even though the diaphragms were completely intact, one wasn't sealing well along the outer edge where it sits in the groove.  I ran a thin bead of gasket sealer in the groove and it completely solved the problem.

I was hoping someone ran into this similar issue.  I am still trying to out guess it , so I may try that since it is simple to do and keep ya posted on any results.  Geno
