Hey guys

I love what's happening on this thread!  I'm in for a trip next year too, it would be awesome!  I have the same problem as my78k in Whitby, we live too damn close to Mosport (about 15 min longer for me)  so we have to figure on stretching it out for sure. 

Bike is away but I'm already planning for the spring, picked up a pristine front fender today in TO & putting bike parts on my xmas list just to drive the wife & kids crazy.  Gotta pull the tank & side covers to send for paint.  Although I had them painted last winter (hence the new nickname, Goldmember) I was hoping for a more in your face orange metalflake job.  Painter saiys bring a sample but where would I find one?  Pictures are just not the same, oh well, I'll keep looking. 

Hoping to go to one of the upcoming TO bike shows, anybody have an opinion on which is the better one (or two) Dec, Jan or Apr?

When I was looking for colours, and then samples I used the House of Kolor site http://www.houseofkolor.com/speedshapes/speedshapes_kandy.jsp

They are different metal flakes you can add in another section.  Maybe see if something works, and then show it to your painter on your lap top.  That's how I did it.

I have never ridden the track although I did a little racing back in the UK so a spin of Mossy would be a nice treat. As far as reserving parking etc I think our best bet is to get to turn 2 on the hill as soon as we can and claim our spots. I didn't make it the last two years due to work commitments and I know things have changed a little since then but very few people camp outside the paddock area so hopefully it will be empty. I do know that other vintage type groups do try to get the hill but there isn't that many of us so we should all fit. Maybe HondaNut knows if there has been any changes and if so suggest options.
As far as riding in and guys living too close I'm sure we would all like to have a route meet that's at least a couple of hours away. Three routes North / West / South East all heading to a meeting point then riding in.
It will take a little time and effort to make it flawless so we do need a little organisation like a rep for each ride in region , if HondaNut could manage it you would be the obvious choice to organise the south east ride plus the ride in from the meeting place as you must know the roads better than most. Whoever decides to head in from the west can arrange a nice route and discuss the meeting spot and the Northern boys can enlist a Moose to lead them down. The rest of us can join in the group best suited to them.
And after all that we still have tons of time so there is no rush.

Boner, you've raised some good points. 

Regarding your question about turn 2 site: I don't think much has changed there in the past years - people still like that spot to view and camp around.  You are correct that the crowds aren't that busy for the vintage weekend so that that area would probably would be less occupied and available.  A lot of the people camping-out for the vintage events are participants or know someone who is; hence they tend to stick close to the paddock areas.  Corner one area is the most popular for those.

As far as routes and places to meet up, from the north, south or west all could probably meet just off HWY 7&12 around Port Perry or Manchester.  The Manchester area is where 7A breaks east to go into Port Perry and then on the way to Mosport.  A good spot to meet would be Haugen's Restaurant (on east side of HWY 7&12, just south of the 7A branch), where every Thursday night in the summer they have a motorcycle cruise-in.  That would allow a larger group to meet-up and continue the final leg to Mosport.  As far as getting from there to the track, its an easy leg that I could certainly co-ordinate.

Turn 2 has very little level ground, other than the parking area.  Not a problem with a cager when camping, but could present a issue for bikes.  I was thinking of asking for a reserved area in one of the paved paddock areas.  Kind of like our own SOHC mini show.

The paddock area is a real nice spot to wander and check out the bikes, chat to riders, the odd swap meet type vendor may show up but to camp there may cause some issues. There will be limitations on booze and fires and although I'm not a piss tank I will consume a few beers and would like to have a good old camp fire in the evening. As far as access to turn 2 I have had all my cycles up on the hill even my 900 Trophy ( ton weight ) and I'm just a little guy. I will of course go with the majority and enjoy every minute of it.

Tintop ! Ask your buddy about camping and restrictions as one of my buds who was there last year said they have expanded the paddock area camping down to turn one and have eased the beer and campfire restrictions for that area. Or maybe HondaNut has the inside scoop on such matters no matter what is decided Im there.
I know Im getting ahead of myself here but if this does go ahead and we have confirmed details we should consider posting the ride for all SOHC4 members to see as the bordering riders may want to join in. Maybe post it as Ontario's SOHC4 Rally for 2011.

I'll give Myles a call at Mosport re camping etc., early next week.  He's the one who makes the final decisions there.  Last year the Ducati boys had there own area in the main paddock.  The big question is security.  My thinking was that it would be more impressive if all the SOHC's were together, rather than scattered about at camp sites (even if they are more or less in the same area).  Might be a situation were the campers park their bikes in the 'compound' during the day, and then move them to your camp site over night.  Lots of time yet to work out these kind of details.

+1 on letting members south of the border know about it.  Certainly the more the merrier.

Sounds grand to me as I say whatever is decided will be great!  So from what I see HedNut appears to be all for it and lives up North, Tintop is very eager and is a Western boy and the South East is already covered by HondaNut so may we assume that U three will work out all the details
Count me in as well as a good friend of mine Dino Dave who as his name suggests is a little behind the times and hasn't figured out what a computer is but will challenge HondaNut with his disire of Honda's.

I snuck into a private lot at the Docks. end of Poison st and Cherry st.
A security gaurd kicked me out after only getting two frames snapped. I had planned to try out a infrared filter I borrowed.. but he didn't let me stay long enough. 

and now it's snowing.. so I guess I won't be riding back down there any time soon.. LOL

Secondly....making a main post and driving it towards anybody who wants to join is an EXCELLENT idea!!  Definately not restricted to us Ontarian's! (But definately birthed and named around us!..haha)

Third....If I can help in any way getting this ride together I'm all IN!  I have excellent "map routing decision" skills and enjoy a good challenge! hahah

Well since I don't actually own a SOHC anymore I guess I could ride the CX and still be considered a "Vintage Honda" but on the other hand I could drive the Dart....lord knows I can fit a hell of a lot more beer and camping gear in the trunk of that!!! (atleast it would give me incentive to get it on the road by then!!!)

I guess I will wait and see what the final plans are once we get a lot closer to the actual date. The little transverse twin may just be too embarassed to be seen with all those nicer SOHC's!!!

Picture is great im sure we will get some borderland boys and if we offer trailer parking located say 4 hrs away we will get even more members who can tow thier cycles for a day or two then ride in the last 4 hrs. I took my Norton Cafe racer to Sturgis once and trailored it to within 350 miles then rode the rest   I rode a Harley all the way but some cycles and riders are just not upto a long haul.
Let me know the route you plan on Hednut cos if you take the east side of Simcoe down I will meet up with you on the north end of the lake.

That would be a good meeting point Boner! I'd ride up that far to hook up and ride the rest of the way back...my bro is in Cannington so could hang out there until you guys are ready to meet up.

I will likely have room for a trailer in my driveway too if anyone needs it (or to stash a support vehicle or whatever).

Sounds good 78k I will have at least one other (not a member of SOHC4 ) Honda rider with me so thats at least 3 to join up with HedNut. Theres a Timmies on hwy 12 near that naughty strip bar place south end of Orillia might be a good spot to meet. Lots of details, Im sure our volounteer ride reps will sort it for us
And Im sure nobody will mind a CX500 in our midst, at the rate Im going I will be on a bycycle, all I have done on my rebuild is put the front wheel in the forks and drank lots of beer.

I am not saying much lurking here reading all the messages. I for one never dreamed about riding the track at Mosport on any kind of machine but I am game to the idea and love the meet up that seems to be coming together.
