What would you want from Ontario based get togethers

A couple of nice rides, an occational informal meeting place and a sense of comraderie.
A little more organized, a few rides, a rally, an informal meeting place and a sense of comraderie.
Well organized, several regional rides, a couple of group rides , a national ride, informal  meeting places and to feel part of a dedicated group.
Im up for an occational ride and will try to make it to a rally.
I am too busy to commit but will join in whenever possible.

thank you.. glad you like. Olivia takes good pic's.. HAHAHA
close.. but not DVP. It's Bayview Ave. going under the Bloor-Danforth bridge.

That's really the only stretch in midtown and downtown that you can get any speed.  I live about a kilometer from that spot and do all my high speed testing on that road after a tune up or adjustment.  Just go slowly the first time to make sure there are no cops and then turn around.  Nice pic.  Rosedale Valley Rd. is nice too.

Ah, Rosedale Valley Road, coming off Bayview.  That was were I practiced my "Freddie Spencer", when I had the 750F TC.  Until the flower seller tossed water on the road, just before I turned in that is. :o    Found other places after that. ;) :)

On to other things.  Mosport.  I heard back regarding some of the issues raised.  This is from the email reply I got:

"....camping is included in the price of admission for the weekend.  You would need to contact VRRA for all the particulars.  As for camping, quiet hours (typical for most events – might be different for Vintage weekend) are from 11 pm until 8 am.  Fires are to be kept to a reasonable size, pets are allowed as long as they are leashed and fireworks and glass containers are prohibited.  Camping is on a first come-first serve basis.  I will try to track down a map which shows the camping areas although, if you have been here for the big weekends in the past, they are pretty spread out on all the grassy areas."

Nothing about booze.  Here's my take.  Outside the fence that marks the pit area, your free do consume.  However, competitors & crew are prohibited from having open booze in their pit area (inside the fence) while racing is on.  As a previous competitor there, I know I am not only one who has asked a spectator to step out of my pit area, because they had an open beer.  Personally, I've never found the bike guys to be as strict, but they have the same rule so.....

GREAT WORK TINTOP... very much appreciate the info and reconassance...and sounds like it's going to be spectacular!!  (My wife is going to want to bring the dog now....I'm not sure if that is a good thing! ahah)     BEST PART!! It's the weekend after my birthday... who could ever want a better present than riding south to the races for a weekend of camping with awesome like-minded company!!  Can't wait!

PS... it hit -25 deg here today....S-s-s-s-sooo cold.  Time to start plugging in the jeep at night!

PPS! Gorgeous pic RustyOlive!!

Sorry Rusty, I don't think I was clear....I wasn't naming a particular location just that the area my guys cover is from Yonge west to the 427. I did that trip on my way home most days as my office was at Yonge and Bloor so I would take Rosedale Valley to Bayview to get to the DVP north bound. Unfortunately I am always in the company car so it's not nearly as much fun as on a bike!!

Either way, it's a great shot of the bike!!

Our thermometer registered a low of 22.5 deg last night...must have been a north breeze from Sudbury way. :P  The bikes are asleep with their batteries pulled and in the basement.  I've had the dogsled out a few times already, and this afternoon we went for a bit of cross-country skiing.  There's almost enough snow cover to get the snowmobile going. 8)

Ha, you need snow for the sled?  Head to London.  Drove by (in the cage, natch) this week on the way to Goderich & man, what a dump (of snow, no slam to our brothers there).  Now I'm really looking forward to next week's vacation in the Carribean (sorry guys, I'll take pics of any bikes I see).  Mosport is going to be great!  Really looking forward to meeting all you guys & seeing the Hondas!

@Boner.
I have a GoPro Hero HD camera.
I made a cheap little mount from my daughers trainning wheels (she's on two wheels now =) ) and bolted it to the handle bar clamp on the top tree. It worked great. But I think I'll be making a better one for next season. It would shake loose once in a while on longer rides.

Here's another video I made last summer. I work for CTV downtown and borrowed some grip gear one weekend, mounted my GoPro to various locations on the bike. Came out good, I think.. LOL.

Hi there - haven't made it through the full thread but I thought I'd wave hi :) I'm just starting my 78 F3 rebuild, progress in the link in my signature below. I live in the city - Leslieville area - every time I take out the 750 I get waves and smiles from everyone. It's such a joy to ride :)

Hopefully I'll have her back on the road before y'all organize something for 2011.

An off-the-wall idea about this Ontario riders get together we are planning.

The Mosport thing is great and it will be wonderful to meet up.

Perhaps in addition to this or some of the other rides that have been talked about, I was thinking about who might be interested in a bunch of old Honda bikes getting together somewhere in Ontario (other than us) and I got wondering whether the Honda company might see some value to showcasing some of it's finer machines? Or perhaps even an individual dealership (Honda Powersports)? or more than one?

What I am thinking is a bunch of us gathering at a dealership somewhere to spend a couple hours on display there to show their customers. A promotion for them. Maybe they could put on a BBQ and get some publicity going. Perhaps they could be persuaded to donate to some charity as a sort of honorarium for us?

For our part we would be there with our flawless shiny machines at the half way point in a fine ride and we could each tell our story about how great the bikes are to work on and to ride ... that Honda still has parts ... perhaps bring our photo albums of restoration pictures?

I think that something like this would be a cheap attraction for Honda for a half day?

Just an idea...

that's a great idea cookindaddy.
I used to restore VW's out in Van and Victoria. A VW dealership was having a anniversary party and asked some of us club members to come show case our Beetles, Buses, Ghia's.. It was a blast.. we even took over the bbq and cooked up hamburgers and hot dogs. we put on some kids games, everyone had a great time.

The following summer we we're having our annual show'n shine in the park. and the dealership coughed up a ton of goodies for prizes and giveaways. and if memory serve's me right, I think they did the bbq'n for us too.. LOL

Well if you want shiney and fancy I will park my CX out behind the building! Either that od I have A LOT of polishing to do....plus it's still stock and therefore not the prettiest bike on the road!

Forget the shiny fancy part - it is just the impression I have of all of the work you all do on your bikes.

Whatever condition yer bike is in at the time but what do you think of the idea?

I think that the number of bikes would help with the impact. Not all of them will be show bikes. That they run well and they are taking part would be important.

Well I voted for .....""A couple of nice rides, an occasional informal meeting place and a sense of comraderie.""

so depending on dates etc.I might be more interested.........only problem being I might not have my 550 on the road next year ,may be riding my 83 GL650i.but it is still considered a classic (age wise anyway)
