What would you want from Ontario based get togethers

A couple of nice rides, an occational informal meeting place and a sense of comraderie.
A little more organized, a few rides, a rally, an informal meeting place and a sense of comraderie.
Well organized, several regional rides, a couple of group rides , a national ride, informal  meeting places and to feel part of a dedicated group.
Im up for an occational ride and will try to make it to a rally.
I am too busy to commit but will join in whenever possible.

I doubt that anything will be changing regarding the current schedule of events at Mosport.  The new owners are very much into the "racing scene" so that they won't want to cancel events, I would think.  They might institute different policies for some things, like camping, but that probably won't be much different either as camping at Mosport events is such a tradition.

So, you want to learn how to ride a motorcycle? :o :o
Or maybe you can tag along to Mosport some day and watch as I do some wrenching on the bikes we use to teach the students on. ;D

So I've been pestered for a Mosport update, and yesterday got some firm answers (in the rain ::)), from the VRRA guys @ Shannonville.

Clarington Honda (north side of 401, west  off Waverly Rd.) has agreed to the use of their lot as the staging point for the ride into Mosport Saturday morning (head out 10:30AM?).  The VRRA has agreed to do pre-register there.  This will mean the group does not have to stop at the Mosport gate, just slow, and show your wrist band.

Having spoken with the Sales Manager @ Clarington, I will also be displaying my 550 there for a week or so with a poster.  Also in speaking with a number of other dealers, there is generally a positive feeling to supporting the ride, by allowing a short term display.  To this end, and because I have a trailer and two SOHC4 BOTM bikes to work with, I plan to hit up others besides Clarington & Classic.  If any of you are willing to also display a bike for a short period, let me know.

At Mosport the VRRA will be reserving space in the lower paved paddock for SOHC4 reserved parking & display.  This will be either the north, or south side, closest to the road.  Camping is available immediately behind on the grass area.  Fires are allowed here, but must be attended.  Washrooms are across the pavement, on the other side.  Camping is available from Friday on, and the area will be designated, probably Thursday night.  So for those coming from a distance, you can arrive Friday, and then ride down (20 min.?) to the meeting point Saturday AM.  As I will have my trailer there, it can serve as secure storage.  BBQ's & coolers will be required depending on how many, and as my truck will also be there, a food / beer run to Bowmanville is easily accomplished.  Just need a shopping list. ;) :)

As for a track tour, at this point the VRRA charges around $25 / bike, and only if scheduling allows.  They have decided to do this because they feel the racers pay for the track time, and so should everyone else.  Not sure I totally agree, but I do understand the logic.  This is still a discussion point.

Honda Canada has basically shown little, no interest. :(

HedNut has agreed to do a quickie poster, VRRA's should be available in a couple of weeks.  So you have a destination, and a time.  Time for planning your rides there, and how you will group up, along the way.

There were to be parade laps Sunday at Shannonville too but had to be cancelled when the race schedule was running late. Things are tight for time, lots of classes to run and there were a couple hard get-offs that require time. Don't forget corner marshalls are out there in place for long periods that need a break too. Those folks would need to be in position for any kind of track parade.

It would be nice to ride the track but Im there to watch you brave souls race the vintage machines, my experience on the track was limited although I did well on a 125 ex ex ex works Maico so I know what it takes to race older frame flexing brake fading mounts.  Tintop will have to do a head count as I think a few may have dropped out and the numbers may determine his plans and what he can commit to.
Also if anyone is heading down from up North let me know and we will join up with you, not sure how many now as some have commited to other events but at least two of us held out for the Mosport event.

I've started a Mosport ride-in thread to create a list of who going, and were people are coming from.  This will make it easier to join up and ride together.

Mosport thread - http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=90517.0

'edit' - I will update the 1st post list, to make it easier to find Ride-in buddies.

Sorry guys, I was mostly wrong about the parade laps cancellation. It appears there were only two people who signed up. $20 will bring a grin to your face.

Went out to the CVMG breakfast @ Famous Sam's today.  There was a TV guy there looking for SOHC's for a program on them.  Appears they are going to shoot part of it at Famous Sam's sometime in August.  I mentioned our ride to Mosport, and there was interest in possibly including some footage from there as well (race & street SOHC's).  Will post further updates later.

Is it still possible to sign up to do a parade lap? Do we do that at registration at Clarington Honda Sat morning?

As bwaller mentioned, this is something that is generally handled at the track.  However I can inquire about doing a pre-reg. @ Clarington.

I posted this in the Mosport thread, but thought it might reach more here.  This is the reply I rec'd regarding my inquiry about the 'track tour'.

"Hi Brian,

I did notice that too.  I think Peter Sheppard was speaking historically.  But I will confirm, until you hear different assume that they are on, if time allows as we have discussed before.

Pricing discussed was $20.

How many do you have coming out?  Around the same 20 or so?  I can see if we can offer you a discount if you buy the tickets in advance.

Cheers,  Steve"

The VRRA Vintage Festival at Mosport is just over two weeks away, and I need to get a better feel for 'how many' for the Saturday Ride-In.  Let's hear from you. ;)

So its 6 days before Mosport, and my 550 is parked (see thread for issue).  I need a good machinist with a lathe to make a new bolt, quick.

I still have the 400SS to take to Mosport, but right now the numbers aren't great, about 6/7 bikes comfirmed (less the 550 :().  Not close to the 20 we had originally thought possible.  I need to let VRRA know what's happening, so if you've been thinking about showing up (either day), let me/us know.
