What would you want from Ontario based get togethers

A couple of nice rides, an occational informal meeting place and a sense of comraderie.
A little more organized, a few rides, a rally, an informal meeting place and a sense of comraderie.
Well organized, several regional rides, a couple of group rides , a national ride, informal  meeting places and to feel part of a dedicated group.
Im up for an occational ride and will try to make it to a rally.
I am too busy to commit but will join in whenever possible.

Hi gang, I'm in Burlington, been riding my 73 350 and working on my '78 750 with a carb problem. I'd be very down for a group ride/rally in Ontario. Put me on the list! I'd love to do Algonquin except for the fact the cottage traffic is nuts every weekend for the summer.

Any interest in a camp-out somewheres?

Welcome and you are added. I'm up for a camp out, I always camp at Mosport for the vintage races but that's in August. Just throw some ideas out there and see what the concensus is.

Mosport camping sounds like a great plan to me also.

BTW have you guys seen this model announcement? http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photos/2011models/2011-Honda-CBR250R.htm  Looks like it would be a fun ride.  I will have to ride over to a Honda dealer on my 350 Four and ask for a demo ride on this one...for comparison. ;)

Looks like a cool little cycle and kinda what I have planned for the future :) as I get older I will be downsizing in weight and cc :) my Suzuki Super Six  is calling :)
Mosport, if it does happen the hill at turn 2 is the ideal spot. Usually there are vintage guys on that hill so we would need a Honda flag to fly. We have several members located close by HondaNut maybe the closest and myself just an hour or two away so cycle support wouldnt be a problem :)
As we get closer to the riding season we can work details out.
Check this out if you hav'nt already.

re: gas - in Bolton $1.08 / Trenton $1.02 ???  It always seems to be .06 cheaper there, so I try to organizie shop trips around long distance fill-ups. ;) ::)

On an other note regarding the VRRA Vintage Festival at Mosport.  Early in September I proposed this idea to HedNut >

"Here's an idea.  To start the original Monte Carlo Rally, cars started at designated 'home' locations (London / Paris / Berlin etc.), and drove a designated route to MC.  Could do something similar.  Pick locations say 5 / 8 hours from the 'site', and have designated routes.  Members would join in as a group passed their location along one of the routes.  Or have designated stops were members would meet-up, say every 2 hours.  Be really neat to have your group growing at each stop, and meeting members and seeing their bike.  Best part would be at the destination, seeing all those SOHC's together, and meeting their owners.  Could make it stress free by having a 'pick up vehicle' that would follow and pick up anyone who broke down.  At the next stop you would certainly have lots of help to get it back on the road.    A small nominal fee would cover the cost of a truck if required."

To which I would add, that if the 'pickup vehicle' as a nice SUV, more wives might join in. ;) ;D ;D  There are also hotels / motels / bed & breakfast in and around Bowmanville for those who don't camp. ::)

Given how many on this thread have favourite roads, should be simple to have a local member lead a leg of his/her's.  Join a bunch of legs together to make a route to Mosport.  My .02 Cdn (.0197 US)

Yes.  And I am only about 45 minutes out from Mosport, so would be pleased to be the final contact/point for those who are coming from further.  I'm sure that we could arrange some accommodation if needed.  Also, BTW, I maintain a fleet of 22 bikes for new rider training that has a bin at Mosport (one of our sites where I am teaching and maintaining).  Sooo, if anyone needed a wrench at that location...

Yep....it's pretty much an amazing event that has to happen!!!  It'd be bad-ass!   Is there anybody more north than I who would be joining in on the ride!?    (Sudbury....ish)

I'm pretty sure my wife would love to follow me down in the car...she can carry some tools...and she'll have room for at least 3 other ladies... AND... I'm excited.

Thanks HedNut for the nice words on my Norton its an older build and I keep changing engines between a 500 single Norton, a 750 Norton and a 500 Triumph. Im looking for a nice 650 Triumph engine then that project is complete.
The Mosport thing will be a blast,  I guess we will need three routes converging into one meeting place then a group ride in maybe as we get closer some nice kindly gentleman would take control and coordinate it all.  We can also scare up some competition if desired let the Norton club and the Vintage clubs know of our intention and we should see a few flags flying on that hill.

That would be awesome!!  What do you need to do to your bike to put it on the track during a track day at Mosport!?  I've never been on one...and I would cry (happy tears) if I could do a few laps on ol'betsy!

Only 1 flaw with that plan!! I live ony a half hour or so from Mosport!!! I want a longer ride! Maybe I will head up and meet up with HedNut...then ride back down for the rest of the weekend. (Actually I would do that loop ride up there on another weekend).

With my second job (DJ'ing weddings) my weekends tend to fill up fast so if we could lock down some dates earlier rather than later I would prefer it. Not sure when that Vintage weekend is...

Oh and in terms of a chase vehicle if a few of us have CAA+ then we have free towing if needed. Unless it was catastrophic, a tow down to this area would be all that was needed and then we could get that bike back on the road. The good thing about CAA+ is it doesn't have to be YOUR bike. We could just claim to be a passenger on that bike and still be covered.

3rd weekend in August!!  We should lock it down now!!  Ohhhhhh mamma jamma I'm excited!  (that gives me the summer to tune my bike up enough to shear the bio-hazard paint right off on the andretti straight! ahahah

That is awesome!!  I'll brew you a cup of java for when you get here...and we'll mix it with the Red Bull and be on our way Like it was meant to be!  That's great that somebody is coming from above! (north of me) I won't be lonely... ;)

Here's a few maps of Mosport to excite the masses.  (I've never been there...and feel shame for it....)

Sounds like we have a plan coming together. ;)

I will speak with Denis this weekend, as he is a VRRA member.  I'll see if they might be prepared to do any special for us SOHC'ers, if we arrived on mass.  Our own designated parking area for sure.  Given the tight scheduling of the races, at best a lunch time parade lap might be arranged.  So that paint on the Biohazard will probably be safe. ;) :D

As someone who has raced at Mosport (vintage Cortina TC) I can tell you that it is a very high speed, and unforgiving track.  My entry to #4 was only 300rpm less than at the end of the Andretti Straight. ;) ;D ;D

I have to relate that I've been around the Mosport track a few times, often in parade laps in my Austin Healey, and it's a nice course.  Also, twice I've been allowed to do some laps with the Goldwing at the conclusion to a charity ride.  The first time I did it with the wife on back, but the second year she decided to beg off before the laps began.  That time I can remember winding out as much as I could on the straight and then easing up for the final curves at the end, only to be passed on the inside by some stretched custom v-twin with a rider in a beanie helmet who looked like he was poured onto the bike.  Scary. ::)  (That day someone else also went wide on corner two but luckily only ended up with a sprained foot when they dumped it in the weeds.)

I'd love to be allowed a lap or so on my 350 Four...just don't try passing me on the inside, please.

Ah, the infamous Turn 2, my absolute favourite corner.  You can always tell from the engine note, who isn't into roller coasters, blind commitment, and have extra space in the crotch of their pants. ;) ;D ;D  I always thought I was pretty brave, until I watched the vintage F1 cars at the VARAC Festival a couple of years ago.  With appendages that big, its a wonder how they fit in the cars. :o ;D ;D ;D
