For our part we would be there with our flawless shiny machines at the half way point in a fine ride and we could each tell our story about how great the bikes are to work on and to ride ... that Honda still has parts ... perhaps bring our photo albums of restoration pictures?

I think that something like this would be a cheap attraction for Honda for a half day?

Sounds like a good idea of which most (including me) are in favor. The last I knew, Warren Milner was the Senior Manager of the Motorcycle Division at Honda Canada, and he owns a SOHC 750. Perhaps he would be a good contact for us to propose this sort of thing, if someone knows how to contact him.

It was mentioned "that Honda still has parts" ... but but just how much is questionable. The company doesn't follow the original Mr Honda's philosophy to stock all the parts for all models previously sold

and apparently Honda Canada actually destroyed tons of old parts back near year 2000.

Some items are just not available anymore. Honda is much more interested in selling new models of their motorcycles than it is in keeping old ones in good repair. That, unfortunately, is the way of modern business...Soichiro was much more than that.

I don't know important people like Warren Miller but that is neat that he has a SOHC 750. Maybe he should join us?

I thought that I could approach the local Powersports in Milton. I'm on pretty good terms with the Service Manager Justin Bolieiro. He wouldn't make a commitment himself but he would have the ear of the General Manager of that one dealership and we might see what kind of a reaction the idea gets.

I've got to get some of those Honda parts (the ones that they have

so in the next week or so, I'll pay him a visit and try the idea out on him.

One of the things I was planning on doing was speaking to Denis Curtis regarding Honda Canada. He was in marketing there and knows who's who, and what is possible. Usually by this time of the year, the following year's sponsorship commitments have been made though. I should have some time later this week to followup on this.

Rides
We have a team working on the Rally at Mosport and we hope to post details shortly. If any of you guys would like to plan an event may I suggest you book a date and I will post it at the begining of the thread. From the poll I conclude that the majority would like a few organized rides then the rest would be localized / less attended affairs so book now!

I was in Brampton today and saw a guy riding. Not a SOHC4 but something much newer.

The sun was shining and the road surface was clear but it was probably around zero or below.

I'll bet he was cold

I would love to get together for a ride / event, I usually dont get to ride with anyone else thats on an older bike it would be alot of fun.

Welcome strawhouse as you can see we have one ride booked and Im sure more to come. Also check out the vintage group in your area I bet they have a regular ride in meeting point and a few rides after that.

Personally, I'm impressed we can still order any parts at all for a 40 year old machine from a dealer! I like the idea of a "Show & shine" at a local dealer too, great chance to meet some of you guys! When I first visited the Durham dealer on the Tangerine dream last summer, one guy (maybe the owner?) started bellowing in the the showroom "Who's got the 500? I'll trade you any bike on the floor for it. I cut my teeth on that bike!" Sounds like a good contact or location too, perhaps?

Hang in there guys. I have been in contact with 'the right person' at Honda Canada. Because of the bike show just past, and the holidays coming up, scheduling a proper face to face is proving difficult. But it is in the works. One very good piece of news, is that Honda will be doing the ride program at the VRRA event this year, so they will be there in force. As for getting together in smaller groups at Honda dealers, that is also something I will be discussing with Honda. I think getting dealers involved, would be a great way to build awareness of the Mosport Rally leading up to the actual event. There is a plan in the works, and when the basic details have been firmed up, you will be the 1st to be asked for comments. 1st we have to have a skeleton, then we can all flesh it out. I would also ask that you refrain from contacting Honda, dealers, or VRRA, for the moment, as this will just cause confusion.

The response from VRRA has been very positive, and again face to face meetings are in the works. However these d*m holidays keep getting in the way.

What is needed is to start getting a solid head count. The 1st question is / will be how many, in these meetings. We also need to start getting a feel for where everyone is located, so the 'getting there part' can begin to get organized. While the forum is a great place for discussion, it doesn't lend its self to well to mass mailings. So I would like to see a group emailing list developed. So (I know I'm going to regret this but

I really get the feeling from my initial inquiries, that this will be something special, a destination event not to be missed.

Merry Christmas Lads
Well I'm in the middle of a cafe build on a 78 CB750K. It will be a work in progress over the next few years but should have it ridable by spring. Three young kids all in hockey/ringette take up a lot of time and money( ok I play 3 time a week as well).The oldest boy is a MX racer aswell. And then there's outdoor ice and the KTM is studded and ready for many local outings as well as a few in MI.
So I hope to make it out with you heartly lads this season and will try and keep out with this thred. Thanks to all who have taken time to get this off the ground.

I didn't when I 1st joined, after I did it, it turned out there were guys 1/2 hour away. Makes it much easier to get together for a little ride, or ask for some help.

Brrrrrrrrrr too cold for me.
Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year, hope Santa was good to you all I got exactly what I wanted a GoPro camera. And thanks to RustyOlive's advice my wife got me a kick ass model.
Anyway I also wanted to let everyone know that the MODS & ROCKERS meet will be again held in August same place and the organizer will work around our Rally date. So lets try to have a presence there, I will book the date as soon as its decided.
