Topic: single/dual filament taillight

I ordered a got a new taillight yesterday and it only has a red & black wire, so I'm assuming its a single filament, which means its a brake light only, right?

is there a way to put a dual filament fixture in there so it would work as a running light also? I'd really like to use this style on my bike

:edit: sorry for being 'that guy'. I just took it apart to check and I was wrong, it will work. I guess it just grounds to the metal of the fender. sweet!

pull the bulb and see if it has 2 contacts on it,if so,it is both tail and brake lights.the manufacturer has it made so it will ground itself on the metal fender.if you need a ground just run a wire from the lite housing to a good ground on the bike.

yeah, I was thinking I should just run a ground wire from the original 3-wire set to the set screw that holds the light socket in the housing

Running a ground wire to the frame is always a good idea.
Insures a solid ground, no matter what surface the light is being mounted too...
