Great "gen" Bobby I think my major problem would be keeping the Cylinder and piping above -40 F not all the time, but you'd have to take into account worst case scenarios. Can't remember the "law" but it's If it can screw you it will.

Bill, I think I will maintain the status quo. Since we are getting into the heating season it is best not to mess around with my NG lines. I will probably buy two extra 5 Gal gas cans and store them in my shed 200 ft from the house. With the 5 gallons in my regular can, the other 5 in the CB I guess I would be good for 3 days and maybe more if I manage it a bit.

I took some courses in home wiring so I may hook up something simple over the winter. In the mean time I will simply open the Main Breaker to isolate me from the pole. Backfeed through two outlets to keep the heat, refrigerator, freezer and running. I bought some of those screw in florescent bulbs to have some light in a few rooms.  Yes I know it is not up to code, but I also know what I am doing.

If you plug a generator in to your house wiring, be sure to turn off the main breaker. The gen voltage can back feed the lines and injure power workers on the end that should not be hot. The codes usually require a disconnect relay of some type. Safety first.

Yes of course. If you do not throw the main breaker you are also trying to light the neighborhood. If the power comes back on and you have not isolated yourself from the pole, goodbye generator also.

I hate (HV) electricity, thats why a pro is doing it.  :)
I love the idea of LPG as i've got (2) 250 gal 'pills' out back, but having trouble locating a generator large enough to power what i want....soooo, i'm going with (10,000w startup/7200w run) gas, and, after this winter, work on the LPG conversion/hookups to my house tanks.
thanks guys, for all the input and ideas.
