Here are some pics of my CB 500 transformation.  Crap CB550 chassis chopped to 44 degrees and hardtailed. What do you think?

Future plans include peanut tank, forward controls with foot clutch, suicide shifter, mini apes, and 4 straight pipe exhausts.  Probably do a matte black paint scheme with some yellow accents.  The bike with donor parts other than frame is a 1971 CB500K with right at 6000 original miles.  Now you know why I didn't cut that frame up.

pretty cool, I lost interest in my cafe project when I had to use the the motor I built for it in old orange (the one in my pic.)

I have a candy apple green chopper with a 350t that was build in the early 70's. I am thinking about dragging it out to see what really there

Here is a pic of the used sportster tank that I picked up for $40.  I also ordered TCBrosChoppers 12" Apes in black powdercoat and a 10" extended throttle cable.  Getting exciting.  Hopefully have it all mocked up and running this weekend.

I will post close ups of the frame mods. As far as tearing into the 500, it is only temporary. I am in the process of rebuilding the 550 motor and carbs. Once they are done, I will put it in the chop and put the 500 back together. Hope this puts your mind at ease a little.  I love the 500. It was my first street bike and my dad bought it for me when I was 16 and it had 1800 miles on it. That was back in 1995. I have put the rest on it every summer riding back and forth to work.

Good stuff!  Hate to be a downer.....but I love your old 500....hate to see any old girl go to pieces when they are that clean.

Funny to say that....when I cut up a perfectly clean '77 550K into a racer, I know.

FWIW....I like your rigid....but hope you aren't planning on any rides outside of the city limits....they will beat you to death!  My rigid Sportster rigid was merciless on me, and that was with a spring seat....

Here are a few pictures from my phone.  Terrible quality I know.  I will take my digital camera home to take some real picture this evening.  I mounted the tank and remounted the springer seat.  The bars are just temporary my new 12 inch apes should be here Wednesday.  I also fabbed up some forward control pegs (no action yet) and played with mounting the rear fender.  I will get some close ups of the controls, hardtail, and seat for you guys.

It's looking Great.  I love the over-all size of the bike.  It does seem to be a "Bar-Hopper" more then a "Sunday Drive" type of bike.  Looking forward to your progress.

New Project Name "Scare The Neighborhood Kids" is running.  I will try to get some pics up.  It is cruising along and making lots of noise.  When I figured out what was causing it to bog down I wanted to shoot myself.  I had to put a T in the fuel line due to the sportster tank only having 1 outlet.  I used a universal T and it scales down to very small hose.  I did not cut the ends off before inserting it into the much larger fuel line therefore thirsty engine starved for fuel.  Chopped the smaller un-needed ends off, and just like magic, runs much better.  Will be doing a plug chop later this week to see how everything is officially running.  Talk to you guys later.

Here is a quick video of my little brother taking off on the CB Hardtail.  I still have a lot to do, lengthen the rearend so an actual springer seat will fit, smooth everything up, disassemble, paint, and reassemble.  Looking pretty good so far.

OK liking this but I gotta ask how is a "foot clutch" gonna work... what if you need to put your foot down suddenly to steady yourself at a light or something?

The forward controls/foot clutch/jockey shift are on hold currently.  I still would love to do them, but I want to get some ride time in before winter.  It is interesting to drive with the hand clutch down close to the headlight, cable is way to short for the Apes, but it kinda goes with the rat bike theme.  I will be lengthening the hardtail by about 3 inches in order to mount the springer seat that I made on there.  As is, it is not as uncomfortable as I thought it might be.  But you have to keep an eye on the road for sure.
