Just picked up a 1970 CB750 for $300 with title!
« on: October 08, 2010, 06:40:36 PM »
;D Well I've been looking for a 1970 to restore since I sold my 1971 this summer and one popped up on craigslist today! 5/70 build date, missing air box, rear turn signals, exhaust, grab handles, center stand and I'm sure a few other bits. Clock says 4,728 miles? I'm going to have to sell some of my other toys to finance a full resto! But I am one happy Mother F.........!!!!  :D I have now at one time or another owned every year CB750 and model except for the automatics! I'm AMPED!!!! Man did I get lucky!

Pete - I'm picking up a '77 CB750 tomorrow for $300. Since you've owned all years, what do you think of the 77's?
I would really prefer an earlier year, but for $300, can't turn it down.
Don't hold back or sugarcoat it, I can take it!

I have a 1977 in the garage right now I picked up for $300 (too good of deal to pass up). I really like the bike, it runs good. I changed to K1 handlebars their a little lower and I like the way you sit better. I am also going to change the 630 chain set up to 520 using the Cycle X kit. I need a new chain anyway and want to try it out!

Excellent find  :)

It will be fun to follow your progress over the winter depending on what you find when you crack her open.

BTW does it run?

No, there is no exhaust on it now. I have an old set of hm341 I might throw on there and try, but for now the plan is to sell a couple of other bikes (thin the herd) and then take it completely apart.

Congrats!  Great score!
The side covers alone are worth the price.

Nice to see it that it will be restored instead of parted out.

Pete-
Nice Score!  I have some left over parts from my 75 (air box, grab bar) not sure if you can use them for this build but they are yours if you want them.  PM me and we can work something out.

Wow thanks for the offer Mr.Mayor!!  ;D I am probably going totally stock. I could use a center stand if you have one! You could sell those parts on here to help finance your resurrection of "Project Marmalade" Thanks again!   ;D :D

I can't see any of the pics (damn defence department firewall!) so I'm just marking this thread so I can see 'em later. Well done Pete, you lucky bugger, I paid more than that just for a seat on the weekend! (if you ever find a '69 frame let me know, it's about all I need to build my 1019XXX bike) Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I'll keep a lookout Terry. Later this week I am going to look at an engine (CB750) bottom end. It has been supposedly sitting in this guys garage since the early 70's...we'll see. He wants to trade for a set of carbs I have from a 1980 CB900.
