Oil gauge seems to be working fine, not a real nice color though.

I am looking to see where I can find a new gauge for a reasonable price, although its not very high on my priority list.

hoping to get my front end fixed up this coming weekend.

Still just messing around with gauges in between studying. Decided to play around with non cthulhu related images. Quality is kind of bad but this could be sweet.

still hunting for a vinyl decal to wrap around the tank.

Yeah the Death Face does kind of send negative vibes. Or at least aggressive.

The theme comes from a series of books by one of my favorite writers.

http://manybooks.net/titles/lovecrafthother06cthulhu.html download link on the right

there is a free download to anyone that wants to read one. Its a quick read. Horror though, and most people arent into that.

But you got me thinking Steve, at least for alternate colors.

I am getting a White seat that is more like the original from another member. Trading for some saddlebags. Anyway, if I wanted to keep that seat instead of a cafe seat, I was thinking a color scheme like this. Excuse the poor photoshop skills.

My friends dont like the clownfish design either. I saw a triumph a couple years ago in a magazine that was done up with the primary colors and it looked real sharp to me. I have always liked plain primary colors. Guess I'm still a 6 year old boy at heart.

Took an hour ride today to clear all the bugs out of the carbs. Bike is running great. That noise is definitely clutch rattle. Not a big deal though. Ordered the other side cover, got the K6 Badges in from england. I like how they sit in the sidecover more. Getting those gaiters and fork seals sorted soon. Then I can move on to clean up. Going to be putting in orders for LED lights, handlebars and maybe a seat.

I do not know if my exhaust is stock. Its a 4-2 with megaphone mufflers. I dont know if I could upgrade the look a little on it easily/cheaply. Might just start saving for a 4-1.

Once I get the new-to-me seat I will decide if I am going to keep it more stock or jump right into taking things off for a cafe style.

The K5 came w/4 into 4 exhaust, 1 piece each. Looks like yours has a slip on?

I am pretty sure my exhaust goes 4-2. One muffler on each side. Its not too ugly, and I cant afford it at the moment anyway, but I like the 4-1 style. I noticed today that my bike is extremely quiet compared to other bikes at school. I Dont want it to be ridiculously loud, but its a whisper compared to the Victory that parks beside me. Got me thinking about drilling the baffle. Looking into that at the moment. Make cars aware of me before I pull up beside them, etc.

I am trying to decide about my fork seals and gaiters. Theyre ugly as hell, but I am not sure that I can get it all done in a day, what with my no knowledge of the process and all. I may have to wait til I get back home for christmas to have a friends dad watch me. I also only have a carport to work in. Worried about leaving it in pieces over night and a kid climbing on it and it falling over.

So, if any of you guys around Central Texas have some time and a garage that youre willing to rent out for the price of free let me know. I cook a mean Gormeh Sabzi. If youre into exotic cuisine. It looks like mud but tastes like heaven.

I should have my other side cover in this week. So I plan on getting them sanded and touched up and primed. I may go ahead and paint them. I am thinking red for the bike and black for any decals I get on there. I think I will also remove the gauges and headlight and polish and paint those. Little things like that I dont worry about because at least the bike is stable and I can get it on and off pretty easily. I am also removing the lowering mounts that are on my rear shocks. I am 6'2 and the bike is set up for someone quite a bit shorter than me.

Just wait to find a deal on an exhaust, I like the 4 into 1 too.

I don;t have much time [work, wife, kid] and my garage is full! [2 cars, 2 SOHC and a shifter kart] Plus, I live out by Lake Travis, other side of the world from San Marcos.

What the heck is Sabzi?!?

Well I can wait for the seals and gaiters. They arent leaking just a little weeping. I have a pretty good feeling that underneath my headlight ears lurks some major rust. So I may just pick up some decent fork tubes and do it then.

My girlfriend is Persian. So I get to eat a lot of food that most people never heard of. Its ugly but oh man is it good. Its a lamb stew. here is a pic and ingredients. I can actually cook it better than her. She did make a nice apple pie last week. http://www.boston.com/lifestyle/food/articles/2009/08/26/ghormeh_sabzi_recipe/

Got my lowering blocks off. Raised the rear a couple inches.

I spent a couple hours going over the bike and tinkering. Trying to understand it better. Becoming one with the bike. Looking at how things are put together and trying to understand how they can come off and be cleaned/repainted. I dont think it likes me very much, but hopefully I can learn to treat her right.

I would like to take the gauges and bracket they're mounted to off and try to clean them up. But I am not sure how the wires that go into the back of each gauge comes out. Not the screw on bit but the wires that are going inside them. I am nervous about trying to remove these without some sort of guidance, as I ride the bike every day now.

I also took the hand controls apart to see how they run through the bike. Not sure how I am supposed to get these out of the bars theyre in now when the time comes.

I have read through the forums and done quite a few searches and cant seem to find any pictures or how tos...

---
I spent some time on the phone with a friends dad who has rebuilt several of these bikes. I dont think he understands how little I understand in regard to the engine. But he suggests some of the noise I am hearing may not be clutch clatter, but might be related to a cam chain adjustment or points adjustment. egh, I cant remember what he said exactly, he may have been speaking french. Fortunately he has a shop in my hometown that and he said he can help me do the fork seals and steering bearings and to see if we can track down the sound problem.

Other things hopefully done over the break are installing a seat and LED lights, clubmans, removing rear fender, polishing as much as I can get my hands on, fabricating an ignition relocation bracket with idiot lights, and hopefully paint. Rattlecan job, cant afford the real deal.

I am getting closer to a paint scheme. I found a guy that can produce some pretty sick vinyl tentacles. I would have liked red more, maybe even green, but the jacket my girlfriend bought me has yellow in it. haha, my jacket doesnt match my helmet that doesnt match my tank that doesnt match my jacket.
anyway, still kicking around ideas. may switch to black and grey. or a wine and grey.

I am late to this party, but your bike looks good and the video of it running sounds just like my '74 CB750.  Nothing that I heard concerns me too much.

thanks guys. I am much more comfortable screwing around in gimp than I am on the bike. I am having trouble finding anyone local that will print the gauges for me. One place says $250 minimum order and another wants a format I cannot give them. They say they can create the gauges for me with images, but that it would cost quite a bit.

My gauges are in pretty good shape, so I guess I am not in a rush.

Email Ray, he can probably do it for you.
He did a couple things for me, very reasonable. Also has some cool wooden SOHC keychains for $5.

That'd be slick if Ray could do them!
I had to do a lot of calling around to find a decent price and something local....
a buddy just ordered some custom vinyl decals from a shop on-line...came in a week and top quality...they're in Ontario, but may be worth tossing an email for a quote?  I'll get you the info...think this is their website: www.autographicsltd.com

Cheers!

just thought I would share this.

there are 4 more videos I think. I am going to start ordering a few things to give my bike a proper cleaning soon.

Ive thought about drilling my baffles for a little bit more noise. Anyone have a good how to on this?

http://mmshadowt.50megs.com/2ktourer/drilling/drilling.htm

I found this link, but I doubt the baffles are the same.

On drilling your baffles...this may not produce "much" more noise....but...any healthy gain is good!

Here's a clip from the FAQ section: Thoughts of HondaMan....on "Getting the Most from stock CB750 Exhausts" Reply #14

http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=7401.0

Quote From Hondaman:

Here's a tip for those of you who like the stock pipe style (4-pipe models), but want a little more midrange pep: find the pipes from the CB750K and CB750K1 models. They had a straight-thru design with glass-packed baffles, needed repacking about every 10k miles or so. These will add almost 10 ft-lbs of torque at 5000 RPM if you rejet properly, which is: whatever size mainjet you now have, raise it by 20 and lift the needle 1 notch, unless you're running K&N air filters, then leave the needle alone.

If you have the K2-K3 pipes, these have 5 chambers in them. Drilling 4 holes of 1/2" diameter in the last baffle (remove the plug piece at the end first, then reinsert the plug piece after the mod), will raise almost 2 HP at 6500 RPM, no other changes needed. Make sure to keep the rubber interconnects between the pipes in place, these help more than you realize at higher RPM.

If you have the K4-K5 pipes, these have 7 chambers in them. They can be modified as the K2-K3 pipes, but the holes must be drilled through the last 2 chambers, which can be tricky because the exit in each chamber is spaced 180 degrees from the previous chamber. There is slightly less to be gained from the K4-K5 pipes because the chambers are shorter.

I like the stock, voluptuous look, myself...I like the quiet, too!

Hope this helps CHEERS!

Thanks brendan. Mine are aftermarket I think. Looks like I will have to pull them out before I know how to handle it.

Not a lot done with the bike lately. Tests and Readings and Meetings. I am ready to be out of school... At least until I realize the job market is crap and go back...

I worked a little on that practice tank. I have several little divots but I am considering just moving onto the paint. I really wish I had seen the posts about filling it with sand. I've only seen a few bikes with dents this big.

The point of this post is to see about some paint ideas I have. I like them both.

This one has a little more pop...

I will have access to a sheet metal shop next month. Going to try to fab a seat. Save some bucks. Found this instruction list

http://home.brisnet.org.au/~jmiller/leinfam/seat.html

Thats it for now. Not a very exciting thread, but hopefully by the end of december my bike will be a little more interesting. I will have hopefully a couple weeks to give it a proper cleaning and slam some parts together.
