CB400F build to cafe racer

Hello,
About 2 months ago I bought 3 Honda CB400F. One in good condition, the other two in parts. The previous owner wanted to make 2 complete bikes from 3 :)
This is how the complete looked like:




Satruday I started do dissasemble the weels, I only need the hubs cause I ordered some black Excel rims to fit them. new sizes will be 1,85 front, 2,15 rear. Tomorrow I will vaporblast (handy iff you have this at home :) ) the hubs and get them powdercoated black.

I would love the following set-up:

Yoshimura oversized piston kit
Yoshimura exhaust
Keihin CR26 carbs
Fast from the past footpegs and clip-ons
Colors black and red, engine aluminium with some "magnesium"

Finally found some time to continu my project. Started sandblasting the cilinderhead and cleaning up the carbs. Head is sandblasted and I putted it twice in moms dishwasher :).







I'll let the carbs soak in some coca cola for a couple of days. Then I'll clean them and search for a good laquer to protect them for the gasoline.
I shaved of the brackets for the passengers pegs. I'll have a look for nice bolt on pegs so I can just put them on when I need them.

I noticed a dent in the swingarm on the right side... no paint came off and it looks original. Does anybody why this is?

Vapor blasting is just like sand blasting b ut with Soda ( fine salt). Its much finer than anything else and its great to use on aluminium parts, but its expensive... Soda turns into dust so you can only use it once. :( Now I use glass, bit harder than Soda, advantages are that you can use it up to 15 times. Bag of Soda costs about 60€/25kg, glass 25€/25kg

I love the look of the mud flaps it had on it. Do you know anything about their origin? I've been toying with different shapes for making a set for my current project and I like the way those are mounted and the overall shape and length.  Your project is going to look great!

I geuss the rear is original cause my father had the same one on his Goldwing 1975. The shape is exactly the same of the fender. Front I don't know. All the parts I won't need will be up for sale, when I get the time to take some pics... :)

Cleaned the carbs for about 90%



Started polishing the top of the carbs... Still don't know iff I'm going to just polish them or get them crhomed together with the bowls.

You're going chrome your carb bowls? Why? They'll polish up to mirror-like with a medium buffer wheel and some polishing paste.
