OPTICAL trick painting CB 750 sidecovers
« on: October 10, 2010, 10:47:56 pm »
Some of you may not believe the difference this can make..

Paint the flat part on the lower left cover black (or frame color), If you dont the cover will look about 2 inches taller..

If you dont believe it, look at the pic of the yellow bike, on the F Vs K triple trees thread..

A small but important detail that Honda originally incorporated into their paint work on the 750K. Often missing on the factory color "restoration" repaints and also a dead giveaway that the paint job is not correctly restored. Why does this detail always seem to be overlooked?

Here's the pic from the referenced thread.  HUGE difference - probably more dramatic with brighter colors.  I've noticed the black "dip mark" on my cover but never gave it much of a thought until now.

As soon as i saw that pic, I wondered why the sidecover looked so big, took me a few seconds to figure out why. I agree, more noticeable with Screaming Bright 110 decibel color..
Easy to fix with a spraycan..

On custom bike we would call that interrupting flow.. You stand back, look at the bike and see how everything flows together.. very important from a styling standpoint.

Thats why a KO, looks different than a later bike, the body color carries through, to the front of the bike at the headlight..  chrome the ears, change headlight color, and you get a more chopped off look...IMO..
