Ok, you know the scene in 'Sleepless in Seattle' where they're all sitting around the table discussing the Cary Grant - Deborah Kerr movie, "An Affair To Remember"? Yeah, it was like that here when the old man started to get emotional over what his son's had done for him. Great story Bill, thanks for sharing, now pass me a Kleenex... :P :D ;)

I like my women a little big. Natural. Now, they shave this and wax that. It's not right. I love natural women. Big women. This trend in women has to go. Bulomia, anorexia. That's just wrong. That was magic. Pass the tissues Schmitty! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

does anyone want to take a wild guess at what they think the restoration of the Norton cost the two sons. I bet there wallets are quite a bit lighter, but has happy as the dad was Im sure in there eyes it was money well spent.
What is a 69 Norton 750 in that condition worth anyway?

It depends on where you live mate, here in Oz, a good one will set you back upwards of $15000.00, but bike prices in the US are considerably cheaper. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Very weird. I have a customer who must have seen that video, because he brought me a Norton for restoration under similar circumstances. It's not for his father, but for another close relative. Just like the one in the video, the bike was obtained as part trade for money owed and has been sitting in a warehouse in junk condition since around 1980. And just like in the video, the owner doesn't even realize it's missing.

All of the mechanical parts are readily available new. But the missing body parts have been a real challenge, because the bike is one of around 200 made. It's a John Player Norton, just like the one owned by Jay Leno. This is what it looked like when he rolled it into my shop. Fairly complete, but the engine and trans and most other mechanical parts were junked by the PO's "rebuild" attempts.

It turned out to need a frame-up resto, and I'm about halfway done with it. Here's what it'll look like when finished. Value? Maybe $15k or a bit more, and that's about what it's going to cost him.

The video was excellent, it is always uplifting when someone chooses to do the right thing. Plus, thanks for posting the John Player Norton-that is a bike I drooled over when I first  got into bikes, was out of my price range then as well as now, Larry
