Will these carbs fit this motor????
« on: October 18, 2010, 06:12:54 PM »
So I just found these carbs from a local guy...for $80.  Freshly cleaned and rebuilt.

Will they fit my motor...

1975 Honda CB750 Carbs  (K OR F...I dunno)
1971 Honda CB750K motor

I would go home and compare my carbs...but only if I can't varify thru you guys.

I don't wanna risk him selling them cuz I know a rebuilt is more money than we wants for these.  AND I'd have my others to sell to recoop the money anyway.

Thoughts??

If they're off a K5 they should 657B's, maybe A's and yes, they should work fine and $80 for the set is a steal.  :)

I scored these and they fit.

Lets just get it straight...I'm a newbie...but dead serious about it.

That said...my motor is stamped CB750E-XXXXXX.  I'm told this is a Super Sport motor.  Well these carbs came off a Super Sport.  They are an exact match to the set that came on the bike.

Regardless...here they are.  Rebuilt carbs, polished bowls and velocity stacks.

OMG!!  I just looked up the going price for a full new carb bank...new and complete.

www.cmsnl.com has the price of this unit listed as 2500 British Pounds.  Thats $4000!!!

WTF??  That can't be right...

ALL ENGINES are stamped CB750E-XXXXXXX EXCEPT for SOME Super-Sports and Hondamatics.

In any event, nice steal on the carbs!

I don't think you can buy four rebuild kits w/ jets for $80. Just buy them and resell them if they don't work. you will make a profit.

Thanks for the timeline....I'll look up the exact number...so I know what I'm dealing with once and for all.

I was going to rebuild the set I have but then found a different rebuilt set on Craigslist for $80.

Then I just was looking for some little missing bits like cotter pins online and noticed that price on a complete bank.

So...I'm all set now.

From what i have seen on your build thread, you are building a clean-looking bike..
do yourself a favor then, and dont run them tappet covers..
trust me on this, they look sorta cool.. but do nothing to imptove the looks of a 750 motor..

...except that they make accessing the tappets SOOOO easy. you don't even need a wrench to put them on/take them off tightly. just bare hand it.

Ok,I respect your opinion, but will ask you to take a good look at a chromed, shaved, valvecover on a 750 with stock covers..

The problem with anything taller, and I have run the tapered finned ones.. is they look like an added on afterthought, not something that blends seamlessly into the surroundings..

in the long run, stuff that has good flow, and works togethjer with everything else.. looks the cleanest..

So picture this:  Allen-head tappet covers!  That would be low-profile, right?  Somebody needs to jump on that!  I'd buy some.

No pics of these prototypes?  C'mon 754!  You're sitting on a potential gold mine!  Find somebody who can run a lathe and whip out a few batches.  There's a market!
