Dyna III ignition transplant
« on: October 15, 2010, 02:03:01 PM »
Hi i have got one question for them who tried, might looks simple but........

So I'm considering to buy Dyna III ignition of 1978 F3 Cb750, and transplant it to my CB500 K0-K1

the question is that gonna fit in my CB following ebay auctions Dyna S is selling to following models

CB500 Cb550 and Cb750 with 1970-1978 year range but this is Dyna S not Dyna III.

I would really apreciate any info or confirmation about it.

Regards

rob

The only difference between the Dyna III and the Dyna S is the Dyna III uses a power module between the pickups and the coils to amplify the spark, while the Dyna S is standalone and does not use a "Black Box". I can't speak for the cross-platform compatibility between the 750 and 500 engines, but if the points plates are compatible between the two, then I would expect the dyna pickups to also carry over. Let us know how it goes.

What's important is the size of the "points plate". Since the CB750 Dyna S fits a 500/550, they must have the same size plate so the Dyna III will work (the 350/400 four has a different size plate). As mentioned it has a little electronics box to hide somewhere... the Dyna S puts everything on the points plate unit.
