Well what can I say...

I wasn't exactly ready to start a project thread yet. I just finished getting her running in good shape and I've only ridden her a few times.
Then she decides to #$%* the bed, and throw a tappet adjuster screw @ 8,000 RPM.

The screw is toast, the nut is lost somewhere under the valve cover and there's metal shrapnel in the valve train. Although I managed to get most of it out by using a magnet and screwdriver, the nut is still M.I.A.

haha thanks man. at the moment I hopefully only need a tappet adjuster screw and possibly nut.

It figures that this happens not 4 hours after I decide NOT to buy that complete top end on Ebay for like $20. $:-\$

that reminds me... I have an assortment of horns for you to choose from. I'll come see you Wednesday.

Ouch definitely flush the heck out of that engine if your not gonna tear it down.

Look how pretty my oil pan turned out!!!

unfortunately my dad threw it away and now I need a new one.
can anyone help?

i have one in the shop right now,off a 73 or 76 but should fit,kidda dirty but will clean up good=chuck
plus other stock motor parts,what else?

Good progress, I see u used the lay it over and pull the bike off the engine method. Worked pretty easy I take it?

Yes. Thank God for gravity. I first laid it over on 2 tires but that put the motor at an angle instead of flat on the ground. than made things a lot more difficult than it needed to be. That is how it got scratched.

Not yet, maybe today? I am an idiot though... I can't seem to find the oil pan bolts. I think they may have gotten thrown out with the pan

seriously right after you said shipped I thought to myself... "oh wait... bolts? uh oh."
No worries though I'm sure I'll figure it out. I'm getting a dresser bolt set so I may just go with hex allen heads.

alright you know it's bad when you forget that you have a build thread.
sorry for the lack of updates.

Right now I'm about to go pick my cylinder head, jugs, and cam up from manassas honda. I dropped them off to be checked and the diagnosis is not good.

There's water damage to the cylinders so they'll have to be bored.
I goofed up taking off the gasket material and the head is out by .003" in a spot so that'll have to be leveled.
Surprisingly the cam is still in good shape though.
